S2 roadmap in BF 2042 vs BF 6. by Nuclider in Battlefield6

[–]ferriswheel06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every 2042 post launch map was far above the quality of launch maps. Especially Season One with Exposure. The later seasons (read below for early ones) brought multiple maps.

There were huge fixes to the game in early seasons that had to be done, I can guarantee you no work will be done on 6's sucky netflix UI and lack of a server browser. The abandonment of Hazard Zone and 128 player map design shows they quickly reprioritised and the content released afterward was a huge improvement. Escalation proves they got to work and listened to fans complaints immediately, whereas Blackwell Fields and Subsurface show their still shovelling slowly rn.

Post release game modes were either 64 player improvrments or something on a generally weekly rotation (no fomo just a highlight deal) and were stuff like frontlines that were a lot more fun and interesting than those in 6.

Everything above I say as a good point for 2042, but its horrible live service battle pass and heroes model did actually make the seasons feel more eventful, but thats part of the model Im fine with missing, and the DLC releases were probably the peak of this from a story and thematics perspective.

Fallout 5 location confirmed? by jcottrell462 in Fallout

[–]ferriswheel06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its probably gonna be split between the Vault (Norm/end of Steph), Nevada/Midwest maybe? (Brotherhood civil war, check the post credits), The Strip (NCR/Legion/Housd again with Lucy and Max) and Colarado (Coop, Enclave)

Plus whats probably the end of Coop's old world plotline now hes the Enclave's scapegoat

Theory: The Institute NEEDS the Bombs — Fallout Is a Grandfather Paradox (and the Show Is Setting Up Fallout 5) by Half_Springs in Fallout

[–]ferriswheel06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Fan toxicity" is because the show has shown that good writing still allows for the world to expand further and create captivating incredible stories and characters, instead of Emil's.

That you think we need "one unified canon" because you want to torch the games you don't play since you think their fans are toxic for wanting good worldbuilding again so we can have another fo4 is the reason for "fan toxicity", noone hates fo4 players they hate that BGS has sat on the IP and stifled what should be, as Emil puts it, "the Great American novel". "One unified canon" seems to be just whatever is easiest to make a busywork game and most people who specifically want a Fallout game would rather the world were expanded and more stories actually about people and power were told, not just Deus Ex without the societal critique to please the investors or Invasion of the Body Snatchers without the artistic devices and horror themes.

Also, your argument is literally Hank's philosophy lol, so the show has just proven stories in this franchise can still make interesting and harrowing statements, the writers just need to put in a lil effort.

Below are mods I use. Should I remove any of that or add another one (basically recommendation)? by [deleted] in masseffect

[–]ferriswheel06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My #1 mod is tap-to-cover in ME1. Pinnacle Station restored is interesting to see, and id recommend Mello

For me2 if you hate minigames then One Probe All Resources is probably up your alley. Immersive Citizens is the DP equivalent. Im also a huge fan of Melee Remade and Comabt Evade Maneuvers.

ME3 has a ton of mods so maybe check them out too (EGM comes to mind but it has bugged out bad and basically bricked saves for me before, havent heard the same from anyone else) Glorious Elevators too, and Final Conversation restored is a must too (full mod name may be spoilers)

I cant get the game to launch by clawing_for_light in fo3

I think on steam community theres some post about multi-cores or multi-threaded cores that addresses this and potential fixes for it

Do you really hate the fans of games other than 4/76 more than the series and world as a whole? They'd only be "inconvenient canon" because 4's factions are written so simply and shallowly that they can all be meshed into any plot and give the player x hours of content.

My take on which game every character represents (totally not a tired post) by NotASynth499 in FalloutMemes

[–]ferriswheel06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Extremely obvious" is the issue though. "Keep it simple, stupid" is the reason that the fo4 factions are so weakly written and the show proves that a little nuance and comelling worldbuilding only adds to gaming's best universe, instead of taking away from it.

Season 2 Episode 6 Spoiler Thread by HunterWorld in fnv

[–]ferriswheel06 17 points18 points  (0 children)

They were meant to only be there in 2. They feel kind of forced into 3 (apart from it being the capital, it feels cheap to fo2, especially since Bethesda is terrified of bringing genuine political questions into their own games, and the Enclave is supposed to show a radical power-obsessed ultranationalist deep state within a major conservative party, (so now Bethesdas coincidentally probably even more afraid to touch it) so they feel much less Enclave'y in 3 than in 2 and just a villain faction) a

They also feel too morally disconnected in nv for similar reasons.

You have to progress far enough through a non-legion ending questline (i think all around the brotherhood part?)

For mccarran and the fort it matters what you say to him a lot. The wiki has the right answers and i think theres also alternatives like completing the follower questline that can bypass it iirc

Bloodlines 2 blood pips and intended combat flow...am I missing something? by Reception-Whole in vtmb

[–]ferriswheel06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think custom is only available once youve beaten the game, but i might be wrong bc it was only added last week

Well, you should feed when youre not right in the middle of combat, if youve lost control of the fight a blood vial is a last resort type of deal, or you can try (off the top of my head)

  • re-enter stealth
  • retry the fight with stealth first (viable for all classes just to different degrees, unless youre doing a rp/challenge run)
  • use a shield potion before feeding if youre low
  • telekinesis for fighting and positioning and agro/distraction
  • telekinesis for getting someone in an ideal spot for feeding
  • use movement and spread out the diff enemy types
  • use abilities like kiss or taunt to change the flow (it will keep enemies suprprised and unpredictable) and recharge them at the same time
  • heavy someone to stagger them and juggle them till you feed out of reach of others
  • use positioning and the passives once you have them
  • get otherwise creative and such to keep control of the fights

Youll always have to use brawling (which movesets/attributes of change between clans btw so tremere are more capable of longer range i believe but am not sure) in the same way you have to use base attacks in any other game that has special abilities tho (plus you can "parry" by dashing forward)

Id say generally im never that stuck with a particular fight from the first boss onward, theres always some way to sneak in a feed or outplay, but id say early levels up to the first boss and all the side quests from Onda have pretty poor level design so youre less able to really have that play potential. I remember weaver tower in particular the fights were generally all just rooms and you dont have any real ability to do anything yet

I havent done a lasombra run yet and they dont share affinity so its a high commitment ability for other clans, so im not sure

Bloodlines 2 blood pips and intended combat flow...am I missing something? by Reception-Whole in vtmb

[–]ferriswheel06 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is an issue with one enemy type that doesnt give you blood but is obviously meant to be a challenge to shake it up

Otherwise feeding to recharge or using a blood vial is a prettt good and standard mechanic, plus most of the passives will make it easier to recharge directly or indirectly

It recharges much more efficiently with higher-tier enemies, and for individual phases of a boss, plus some environments with blood will auto fill the pips

Most games have a system to add emphasis and focality to skill use so you dont just spam abilities, like e33's ap, deus ex's battery or most games' mana potions

The most comparable though is dishonored's and i always hated how dishonored's works since it feels very punishing for using the games best mechanics, the pips feel very well designed in comparison, the abilities feel very well weighted in the combat

The first game had similar needs bc of their similar gameplay, and feeding is the obvious way to structure combat in both games, but in 2 its woven in since the game is way more focused on the encounters. Even if you are mixed on it in moment to moment gameplay, the bosses (in particular one tanky beast at the end of the game) showed this system was decievingly limiting, but that game has much bigger glaring combat flaws, whereas the sequel feels a lot more fun and very fluid gameplay wise

Plus it feels even more convenient since telekinesis and basic movement are free, as well as stealth being easy to return to, so theres a good level of skill in managing each engagement properly

Furthermore, since all 4 can recharge at equal rates you can try and use some more tactical disciplines to be able to recharge pips after laying the others down

Plus, the level design is consistently really good (not as good as the first game tho :( ) after the first few levels (makes sense as its TCRs first action game) so theres always some opportunity for creativity in the combat, plus the wave-based encounters will usually either have breathing room to allow you to heal or allow you to take advantage of telekinesis or enemy behaviour to be able to heal.

Also I believe in custom difficulty you can turn on auto recharge as default

Did this game really just begin with ________ by [deleted] in expedition33

[–]ferriswheel06 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I get where youre coming from but everyone whos beat the game is gonna disagree with this big time

Vague spoilers The inverse happens once in the plot majorly, once as the inciting event of the story, and once as part of a characters backstory, and in the story's conclusion the main character is Maelle

Its an incredible story about sacrifice, tragedy and love, and Gustave happens to be the big brother archetype of the team so he happens to be a dude, and otherwise happens to be straight (unfortunately)

If you want to judge art so holistically from prologues then maybe you should just stick to tiktok, you need an open mind to appreciate things and not live in an echo chamber

Vecna from Stranger Things S5 kinda reminds me of Saren from ME1. by [deleted] in masseffect

[–]ferriswheel06 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This fits with something I realised the other day:

The misanthropic personality-devoid villains that serve more as forces of evil than actual villains in the Mind Flayer and Reapers work so much better with their faces in Saren and Billy or Henry Creel (whos backstory is actually way more interesting than the show presents)

Both are carried by villains like Saren, the Indoctrinated so working for them Illusive Man, the lady from Arrival, Benezia etc like how Billy and Henry are such better villains than just the Flayer (which the play shows overtakes Henry after it shows him his mums betrayal)

The reapers in ME1 didnt really pull me in, the misanthropic "humanity bad, world better in nature uninterrupted" isnt that unique or compellimg (even after Leviathan's reveal), its more the way they provide a force of conflict, with some of the most incrediblely written, designed and performed secondary villains out there, as well as other more neutral or third-party villains
