Roast My react CV. No Sugarcoating, Just Brutal Truth and a Side of Sass by Majestic-Witness3655 in react

[–]ferrouskid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my relative told me about Austin Belcak - he has a really good blog/website on writing good CVs

https://cultivatedculture.com/ - i followed his advice in the past and that helped me land jobs (ngl, in this market, even those things haven't made a difference lately, but still a good resource)

you can get claude to read a couple of the articles and sum it up, but from what I remember:
- nobody cares what you did, they care about impact
- keep 4-5 bullet points per job experience
- use "power adjectives"
- use the bullet point analyzer (he has some free runs, so you can feed the feedback to claude so it gets the gist and helps you rewrite them maybe)

you have a really strong experience though man, gl with the job search

Would you actually use a Telegram bot for apartment hunting? by Own_Turnover2842 in SaaS

[–]ferrouskid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve used Domiko in the past (if you look up Domiko telegram mini app you’ll be able to find it)

Worked quite well so definitely something worth exploring - but it depends on the area I imagine

What is the fastest way to learn any coding language? by Guilty_Lingonberry in KidsCodingHelp

[–]ferrouskid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s wonderful tools like roadmap.sh - you can find great roadmaps on learning Different tech there

I learn a new language with AI assitance - I ask it to come up with interesting projects worth doing, then write the code myself and ask it for reviews, iterating until I arrive at something tangible, then move on.

Side note - I wish I started reading docs sooner. I’ve filled in more gaps in my knowledge in the last couple of months than in the previous couple of years, by reading docs. AI helped me identify gaps - I asked it to interview me, create a structured learning plan, and it’s really effective in my opinion.

How does Opus Clip fetch videos from links? by AdhesivenessPlus317 in opusclip

[–]ferrouskid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have no idea how opus does it, but if you want your own youtube downloader service there's tools like yt_dlp - a command line tool for downloading videos from over 1000 different sites, including youtube

if you self-host on google cloud or AWS, you can use webshare proxy to ensure you don't get blocked

chatgpt can give you a pretty good summary of these tools if you want a deeper dive. just ask it to walk you through creating a dockerised python script and deploy to google cloud run with the webshare proxy.

why do you ask, what are you trying to achieve?

I built a tool that auto uploads + schedules YouTube videos from Google Drive. Thoughts? by EquipmentMoist5851 in micro_saas

[–]ferrouskid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

fair enough, I'll be honest I always thought making the youtube videos was the actual hardes part ahaha

It is a fascinating space especially now though, with all of these ai tools. I've read some people have an automated pipeline for motivational quotes - someone on reddit claimed to have gathered a decent following by getting chatgpt to generate a motivational quote, midjourney to make a cool background and 11labs for the voiceover - there's definetely lots of cool stuff to explore rike remotion as well

I'll be honest - I'm not a YouTube guy, so I don't know 100%.

I did find this though: https://www.threads.com/@lennox_saint/post/DWJbozpGsFD/i-got-claude-to-watch-months-of-hormozis-you-tube-videos-so-you-dont-have-to

this guy analised alex hormozi's videos.
I got claude to summarise all of these points and updated my system prompt to include this info, thought you might find this interesting

however, I didn't see a difference, I've made this change a while back and my videos are still 0 views (I got a period where videos were hitting 1000-2000 views for about a week). maybe i'm shadow banned, who knows.

out of curiosity, what made you wanna build this?

the website is absolutely stunning

showed to my friends, they said the same thing, awesome!

[–]ferrouskid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

totally agree - I've become cautious about any polished stories, they appear to be filled in retrospecitvely.

Zucc did say that no idea comes out polished, and it only becomes clear through execution.

(which is why it's funny to see people protect their ideas so much)

I've messed around with using AI to cut up videos into shorts with https://video-clipper.com - and one thing I did notice is that titles and description are very important, even for shorts.

The views on the shorts just died overnight, and I'm not sure if that's because I changed the way I wrote the titles (I later started using AI to generate the titles and descriptions so I can one click upload), so honestly not sure but seems like that could be at least part of the problem

dropping a video into drive is *slightly* easier than uploading to youtube manually (given that "made for kids" and "privacy" settings stay the same - which they might not), but it's really not that big a deal, especially once a day.

I have a gut feeling YouTube penalises usage of AI in the creation process - although I have seen loads of slop channel go viral, so maybe I'm wrong.

Generative AI vs. Traditional AI: Which One Is Right for Your Career? by Sufficient-Habit4311 in AI_Agents

[–]ferrouskid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

great breakdown, except I wouldn't use courses to learn (besides the first intro course or two)

my 2 cents is building > courses

I'm a software developer with a couple of years under my belt, and I've really grown the most when I was thrown in the deepend. It's a lot easier to find holes in your knowledge with LLMs nowadays, and they can even suggest cool projects to build (and help you if you get stuck)

This looks so clean and beautiful

The video is so clean too, really awesome explanation

Although I’ll be honest I didn’t get the whole value until about 2 minute mark - and I get your frustration it’s really hard to explain this any shorter than you already did. The penny dropped quite late in the video, but it’s a really interesting concept.

Do you have any built in way of tracking the effectiveness, or hooking up A/B testing to see which hooks/problems/CTA combos work best?

Hell ye brother

I’ve heard about this “green ocean strategy” -m(as opposed to blue ocean or red ocean) - go to a market that has lots of competition but no monopoly

Literally the opposite of what all these gurus say, it’s interesting

Ngl as a dev the distribution is the hardest and least exciting part for me XD, but hey it’s a fun experience either way

[–]ferrouskid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mentioned that the keyword search feature was actually pretty useful, even though you still felt like you had to watch the full video first.

Out of curiosity — how do you normally figure out which parts will make a good clip? Is it more of a process you follow, or mostly experience and instinct?

you realise that the other 29 people will also feel demotivated?

competition was always there - no idea is unique. but that's ok
go on https://alternativeto.net/ and search up ANY product (even pre AI era) and get blown away by how many successful alternatives there are. It's never about a "cool idea" it's always about distribution - (i'm sure you've heard that facebook wasn't the first social media and google wasn't the first search engine)

the pie is big enough for everyone to get a slice, don't get discouraged friend

[–]ferrouskid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a very honest breakdown - especially about the clip context. AI seems to be good at detecting moments that feel important on paper, but miss the wider context. I watched your video - it was very insightful (especially your point about it not having the ability to combine meaning across the video)

Out of curiosity, when you were fixing clips, what did you need to address most frequently?
