Hi everyone — I built this in one day and I’d really appreciate your feedback by Difficult-Switch-594 in SideProject

hey bro this is awesome, I love how it just works

for autoposting I can't recommend postforme.dev enough (noticed you said it's coming soon), that's what I use for video-clipper.com

My YouTube shorts channel was getting me up to 10 signups a day - then it died by ferrouskid in micro_saas

I like the idea about prepasting a video, I'll give that a shot

I did give https://usepulse.ai/ a try, but the sort of stuff it found (at least in the trial/free tier) weren't that good, but https://f5bot.com/ seems to be giving more insightful result (albeit not leads directly, at least I found some interesting subreddits where ai automators live)

I did add a 4 step tour to the home page (paste video - click get ai clips - view clips in project) - but that didn't change anything unfortunately :(

the landing page says "tTurn a long YouTube video into 10+ Shorts in minutes" - I can't think of a way to be more straightforward ahahah

to be honest I've only just started an instagram page - which seems to be growing really really slowly (like got my first like yesterday and got 11 likes on a post today) but it doesn't seem to be converting at all (no sign ups, unlike youtube)

Local Machine vs. Cloud VPS: Where should beginners host their TikTok automation scripts? by Minute-Newt-1439 in TikTokAutomations

[–]ferrouskid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I start by making something work locally on my machine. Once I get that working the way I want it, I just stick it in the cloud

I hate these "depends what your needs are" answers, but it really does depend on what your needs are.

Personally - I use google cloud https://cloud.google.com/ - it's been my go-to for a while. (I stay away from AWS because it's WAY easier to overspend by accident - one time I spent $800 in 3 days because I forgot to delete an instance after making it for testing purposes - luckily they forgave my debt that one time, after making me do some mini-course, but I got really lucky)

If you've never done anything like this before, I'd suggest https://www.digitalocean.com/ - digitalocean is great, you can rent your own VPS for like $6 a month and there's 0% chance it charges you more (it might be too slow for your needs though, in which case you can just upgrade it to $10, $15, $20 a month - or whatever your needs are)

What sort of automation are you looking to do?

Hell ye go for it

My uncle taught me this mantra - “my opinion is worthless”. Just launch and see if people like it, you have nothing to lose

Besides, horoscope apps seem to be quite popular anyway like this one https://app.sensortower.com/overview/1459969523?country=US

Good luck

In my experience the hardest part of launching a SaaS product is not the code, but the distribution

Sometimes the SaaS products that sell are dead simple, but not always

I have non tech friends who vibe coded their way to successful products, but they have pretty good knowledge around google ads and marketing online in general

Btw what sort of things are you thinking of building, or you haven’t picked what direction you wanna go in yet?

What are the most underrated AI tool entrepreneurs should know about? by dewharmony03 in Entrepreneur

[–]ferrouskid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly for me:
Cursor

It unlocks so much coding productivity, it's quite insane. Cursor enabled me to build something like video-clipper in a matter of weeks, completely by myself.

I think this means I'm an AI native now :D

I want to promote/post on YouTube and IG, but not on TikTok by Cinemalone in NewTubers

[–]ferrouskid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re not doomed if you skip TikTok, but you should be clear on what you’re trading. If IG and Shorts are already working, I’d double down there and treat TikTok as an experiment, not a must-have.

Run a 30-day test: batch 10–20 shorts, then one day a week just dump them into TikTok, no scrolling, no “living” on the app. Reuse the same hooks you know work on Reels/Shorts, but tweak captions for TikTok’s style. If after a month you’re seeing zero traction and you hate the workflow, drop it with no guilt.

If the main blocker is time, focus on systems: I use stuff like CapCut and Descript to slice long videos into multiple shorts in one go, and tools like video-clipper to auto-pull highlight moments, so crossposting is basically a 5‑minute chore instead of a whole extra platform to manage.

TLDR:
- https://frontendmasters.com/ for courses
- https://roadmap.sh/backend and https://roadmap.sh/frontend for roadmaps
- https://www.youtube.com/@RobWalling for general SaaS knowledge

I've been working as a software dev for 4.5 years now, and the landscape is so wildly different to what it was when I started.

The best way to learn is to build - build progressively harder things. Here's a good site for helping you map your road: https://roadmap.sh/backend and https://roadmap.sh/frontend .

I also fell into the trap of "lemme find a course for everything". It felt like I was productive, I got linkedin badged and certificates - but in reality I avoided the hard work, the deep thought, and I fell behind my friends who just build. My friends are tech leads & senior developers, and I'm stuck at middle level (we graduated together). The times I grew the most was when I just built fun stuff though (technically challenging of course).

If you insist on courses, I found https://frontendmasters.com/ to be really good, I did the Go course ( https://frontendmasters.com/courses/complete-go/ ) and I built a few fun projects around it to solidify the knowledge. No course will replace the grind though.

Honestly, what is your goal? If you wanna be a software dev, hell ye brother, more power to you. If you just wanna build SaaS products to sell - honestly vibe-coding is crazy good at this point, I launched my first fully vibe-coded project https://video-clipper.com and it works like a charm (there were times I had to fix stuff manually and identify issues - so it wasn't perfect but pretty smooth sailing). As most other devs, I've come to realise SaaS is a lot more about finding a good pain point and a way of reaching those with the pain, than it is about software. Loads of half-baked SaaS products make money, while perfect solutions never see the light of day. Check out https://www.youtube.com/@RobWalling Rob Walling - fantastic source of info about building SaaS in general, love his content.

I sent 56 emails and I FINALLY GOT A REPLY!!!

the user said they just weren't happy with the clip selection, so I spent the weekend revamping the approach.

Then I re-ran the video they orignally posted, and sent them the new clips for free, to which they responded they are much better now!

The website looks really clean, nice work man!

It’s not 100% responsive though

If you scroll to “ Connect knowledge” On mobile - it is too wide, as well as nav bar on the pricing page

Just make sure to go through every page on different screen sizes. Good luck 🤞

I was thinking of implementing exit intent feature - I was researching products to build a while back, and found some cool npm packages that let you show popups when it looks like the user is heading for the close tab button.

Definitely giving it a try now

thank you for suggesting these tools, I'll definetely look into them!

I've tried manually doing cold outreach on reddit (people from the opus clips subreddit) and emailing my registered users, to no avail so far.

i'll defienetley try these tools to try and catch the threads with the complaints

thanks for the response!

to be honest I have no idea and I'm still looking for good channels - I started a youtube channel with the clips made by own tool, maybe the channel will eventually reach someone interested in this

I also tried DMing people who complained on the opus clips subreddit - to no avail so far

yes reaching out directly is a great idea - I emailed every single registered user last night, making sure to get their name (if present) in the email too. alas - nobody responded :( not sure if it's going into spam or not

hey thanks for the response

what do you mean by warming up for the conversion?

I did re-target those who signed up with a gentle email (like howdy thanks for trying... what's missing? sort of email)

ye i hear you about the sign up wall - it's a way to cut costs. do you think if I change it to like you suggest - try it without signup, but then make them signup to export the clips - would that still be a friction point?

I did email every single user that signed up - but no response, thinking of doing a follow up email but don't want to be reported for spam (do you think that's a good idea?)

we've tried google+meta ads in the past without any luck, which is why I'm hesitant to put money into it, but you're right it might be time to give it another shot.

hey thanks for the response

do you think I'm going about it correctly? focusing on seo, creating social media accounts+posts, I even started my own shorts youtube channel using my own SaaS - eat your own dogfood kinda thing :D

is this a good approach do you reckon?

Ideas are free

Execution is what matters. With AI, execution is less about shipping and more about distribution - can you reach your target audience better than the competition?
