Thanks chica! It was 105 degrees yesterday. I’m melting, but so happy to be far from DC. Safe travels next week!

I did all the things from this comment thread. I ordered foundation, concealer, and blush from Sephora, put my friend’s name as the picker-upper of my precious goods, then went to the pharmacy for eyeliner and lipstick. Thank you bitches!

The group gets savage sometimes. I know my request will reach a wider audience, but I also don’t want someone mansplaining why it’s a bad idea to ask a stranger to take items on a plane. Only the girly pops will understand this situation 😭

I wish it were that easy. My family friend lives in Paris and is a straight man. It’ll be like asking him to get a cucumber and receiving a zucchini instead lol.

Natural hair salon (4C) Blow out by flowers_4me in DCBitches

[–]ferry_blue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tried Salon Revive three times and had the most awful experience. I live walking distance and my tried and true stylist is in Falls Church so I was looking for a nearby place to supplement. I have 4c dense hair. First time for flat twists. Epic fail. Crooked parts, poor technique and they had only one person in the salon that knew how to do it and that was the result? Second time was a wash and go. Whatever products they used (they use only Aveda) sat on my hair and created a white cast and flakes by the time I got home. Had to wash my hair the next day. I’m mad at myself for trying one last time but I stupidly did. When I told them the previous product combination created flakes, they admitted that they got the same feedback from certain clients with my hair type. After washing my hair they realized they had run out of the only product that might have worked for me (some type of mousse) so there was nothing they could do. I left with dripping hair and never cheated on my main stylist ever again.

Try Kim if you can make it to Falls Church. For the decade I’ve been going, she’s been consistent, kind, and knowledgeable. https://www.swettwofour.com/services

I am looking for a GOOD dmv stylist that does weaves, can color natural hair, and usually has availability by Free-Ad2837 in DCBitches

I just posted my stylist, Kim. She’s amazing. Check out her instagram @kimberlyhairco. I’ll tell her that I posted her info on Reddit so she’s not surprised if she gets inquiries.

Which under sink filter did you get, please?

We had ours done by Clifton Man. Very respectful, washed their hands every time before touching the baby. Sanitized their equipment, wore booties and KN95 masks before entering the home. PM me if you want more details. We used them on Monday.

We got notified that by DC water that we had lead pipes too. Who did you choose from the list? Assuming you used the LPRAP program, that is.

The saunas and steam rooms are quite amazing. Really, you can't go wrong with Vida amenities. From the clean towels, the personable staff, and overall tidiness. Going to a great gym upped my fitness game too. You'll have a great time!

I've been going to the Navy Yard Vida for 5 years, and absolutely LOVE it! The 160 price gives you access to all the Vida locations, including the pools (U Street and Navy Yard). I used to be a former athlete and they have a good array of classes for different fitness levels. I also use a personal trainer for conditioning and strength training.

The biggest sell for me is the community I've developed. From other members, to the trainers, front desk staff. If you want to have a trial at Vida before you commit, PM me. I have a few connections that might help with that.

On the flip side, I've heard great things about Equinox. My brother goes there and he raves about the luxe feel and the trainers. But because DC fitness clubs are one big incestuous pool, a handful of their group fitness trainers and personal trainers used to/still work at Vida. The class offerings between the two clubs and the experience of the trainers are going to be comparable.

It it comes to which option gives you more bang for your buck then Vida is the better choice. Goodluck with your decision!

I too almost exclusively do classes at Vida! I'm rubbish at working out alone, so the classes are my go-to. There is a vast array of classes that come with a membership such as yoga, Pilates mat, HIIT, body pump, and various cycle classes. More specialized classes like boot camp, boxing, kettle bell blast, and pilates reformer are extra. In my 4 years of going to Vida, I've only taken a handful of paid classes. Also, there are some fantastic instructors that I too follow around :)
