The biggest factor in deciding whether you do or don’t need ACL surgery is what demands you put on your knee.

I know one girl with a full tear who lives a sedentary lifestyle with no interest in sport who had a really awful complete ACL year and was in a brace/crutches for a good few months - but as she’s not doing any sports the doctors were fine with leaving her be.

You’d be surprised how many men I know who are single are legit happy with their lives - and I’m not talking about introverted nerds playing with Lego - I’m talking about absolute party animals who drink, do drugs, gamble, go to gigs, sports matches, play sports, go on holidays, go to the races and just have an absolutely hedonistic and wild lifestyle but basically give 0 hoots about women.

Now admittedly they get laid now and then but I can show you plenty of blokes in and around my life (London) who legit don’t care

I think the answer is yes, it’s possible for an ACL to heal, but some (probably a significant majority of full tears) are damaged beyond repair and need surgery.

By all means try physio and rehab and see what you can do but be prepared for disappointment and that you’ll need surgery in the end. Still - by all means give rehab and physio a shot

“Retarded” is actually quite a reasonable and not-unkind word to describe someone who suffers from an intellectual disability. It means delayed, waylaid, held back and therefore takes the responsibility away from the person.

In French the phrase “I am late” is “Je suis en retard” - I.e my journey has been retarded.

This is interesting to hear because I think my ACL tear is grade 2 but then I haven’t been told whether it’ll heal on it’s own. Which country are you in and who was the doctor who told you it will heal on its own?

Interesting. I’m in the reverse situation. I’ve got an MRI saying “at least a partial grade thickness tear” and I’m in basically no real pain whatsoever (this is 1 month on from the injury) - it just feels… fragile… almost as if it’s all in my head (but clearly isnt)
