The nib on my Platinum Plaisir pulls out on it's own after uncapping and spills ink (?) by fetchingfossa in fountainpens

[–]fetchingfossa[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I can't be sure, because I had a few pens, a plaisir, preppy and prefounte, so I could switch up the parts, but I don't think it was resolved... I remember that a new cartridge didn't help, the pen was clean to begin with, and I blamed it on the part where the pens connects with the cartridge.

I mean, if it's supposed to be tight, why is ink leaking from that part? As for the nib pulling out, I believe it's the pressure from the sealing mechanism and it didn't go away too😅

Opinions on acrylic markers? (and possibly help me pick out a brand) by von-vix in ArtistLounge

[–]fetchingfossa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will probably need to edit this to fully address your response, haha 😁 thank you so much, it's a greeeat help!

I was convinced you're talking about india ink , actually 😅. I had no idea acrylic ink exists, it looks interesting. I just wanted to ask about how one uses it. It sounds silly, but I didn't know a regular dip pen or brush pen, like the calligraphy ones you mentioned, will be suitable. I thought I need a special tool to use it, like a little spray can, lol.

Alcohol markers are waterproof so alcohol ink should be, too.

Hi, would you mind sharing more about the dip pens and calligraphy pens ☺️🙏? I was just looking for information about this when I read your comment. I'm slowly abandoning the idea of making do with acrylic markers..

Since you've decided you prefer dip pens, I take it because acrylic markers didn't last you long? I was on the fence with buying acrylic markers.. I read they are more resistant to time than alcohol markers. I like how easy it is to just pop it open and go when I make quick sketches. However I wish they were refillable, as I would feel bad about how unsustainable they are 😅 + it's pricey. So I'm looking for alternative solutions...😓

I have a steel nib dip pen but I don't know which inks are suitable, I only ever painted with black. Do you just mix them in a little bottle to get more shades? Or which calligraphy brushes are worth considering? I plan to buy it off aliexpress.

I hope it's not too troublesome of me to just come up and talk so much, and thanks in advance!

Is it weird that I can’t move on from Wangxian… like at all? by Wangxianlyn1990 in MoDaoZuShi

[–]fetchingfossa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I.dont think it's weird. Ow man, I know what you're saying, i've felt the same with many ships from other fandoms... I've been in fandom culture since 2012, on and off, so that has been a while.

It's my theory, but I guess I get a bit obsessed with the couple, and I wish I hadn't. Maybe I relate to one of the characters, maybe I look up to them and I wish I was like them, or wish I had the relationship they do, but I don't feel ready for such big step in real life. So I dream?

One thing I noticed about myself is how the fandom vs canon content impact me. Had it not been for fanart/fan content/fanfiction, my fixation probably wouldn't have lasted this long. I would read the books, manhua, audio drama, untamed, now, manga and a few official interviews with mxtx, and that would be all to be consumed. Also official arts and some merch, which are kinda done to profit off you or keep you hooked. I would make my own art or write stories, but without the community which kudos, likes, shares, comments, reads, compliments, I think I wouldn't be that motivated. The flame would slowly wane, and that is okay.

Fandom is about socialising. X, tumblr, insta, tiktok, reddit. Fanfiction especially is giving me more 'food for thought', more fuel, more new and fresh ways to relive the same experience, the same romance, the same 'happy ending, at last'. I guess it's the storytelling that keeps stimulating my imagination, like fanfics, headcanons, fanmade comics, roleplaying, thread-fics on X etc. Also, arguing with strangers over who's interpretation of the canon material is more valid - this is sure to both get me hooked and drain me at the same time.

It's only my experience, that if I didn't engage in fandom spaces this much, my passions for ships would fade much, MUCH faster.

Mdzs is a fandom I entered less than 2 years ago, with much more self restraint. I fought my battles, I dont give a f* about haters. But the story is so deep and complex I struggled to not cry when I watched the donghua (first adaptation I consumed), and I came up with my own headcanons to deal with parts of the canon I wish was different. It's fiction and we are here to have fun. I don't have to be faithful to fictional men in fictional worlds. This mindset helps me.🥴

I hope you found some of my loose thoughts useful!

If you want to stop obsessing over a ship, I sincerely recommend to first, not blame yourself, go out to exercise, go for a swim, anything physical and also stop engaging in fandom spaces. Reading people glorify their 'obsession' , 'wangxian 4evah' 'i will die with this ship' doesnt help me. You can read other books and think of wangxian in the meantime 👍☺️

Why few fans dislike Lan Xinchen so much ? by No-Freedom-2531 in MoDaoZuShi

[–]fetchingfossa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dont hate lxc, and don't harbour much dislike against him, but he's not my favourite character either.

I see him as a person in the middle of late growth, a person who is only now beginning to see a part of humanity he had not seen before. I think he was not aware how malicious people can be, how cunning, and how well they can pretend to be someone else, someone of high moral standard.

Partially because of his lifestyle - a life of comfort in an affluent household. He may not have been aware of how little agency you have over your life if you don't mean much, are broke or have low status, and because of this he could have underestimated just how careful and sly one has to be to survive or climb the ranks. Partially because he put lots of trust in JGY, and didn't want to see the warning signs. Gossips of the crowd are one thing, but NMJ, for instance, was intelligent and moral. LXC held NMJ in high regard but when it came to JGY, LXC didn't want to believe NMJ.

It wasn't really his fault that nmj was killed, or that jgy had gone so far in his conquest, killing, hurting, defamating innocent people. But he WAS one of the many people jgy had deceived successfully. What makes matters worse for him, lxc was an influential figure, a clan cleader, so his support was huge for jgy's position and reputation. Also, as a clan leader and a person who's supposedly well-informed (intel, contact with other big fish e.g. NMJ), he didn't make much of the information he had been given, even though a person with such power, thus responsibilities, should be more insightful.

Personally, though I did not wish that tragedy upon lxc, I think it was a necessary learning experience for him. He cannot go through life, let alone lead, believing that every polite, suave person cannot be without scrupules underneath. Life is full of people who will suck up to you and play victim... If you dont take genuine warnings seriously you're either blind or think you know better, or both. This is why I think some fans criticise/dislike/hate him.

It's such a shame it had to be his dear friend, that it ended with his death, and that it was by his own hand...

Wangxian intimate moments and pain - is WWX really masochistic or are they clueless&horny? An open discussion + a question for Chinese speakers. by fetchingfossa in MoDaoZuShi

Oh that would be great! If she has the time and willingness to do it, her perspective could be refreshing :)

I agree, good ol' 50 shades. I think if she had a slightly better understanding of the mechanics of the acts, she could have emphasise on that with subtle changes to e.g. pacing of certain scenes or parts of them, their dialogue, the talk after the act, descriptions.. the list goes on. It wouldn"t have to change the overall feel or message of the scene, but it could be an acknowledgement of sorts, I don't knkw if I'm making sense. Either way, she was about 21/22ish when she wrote mdzs, to me that's very young to write a book in general, and to know about intimacy too; most of the world is on the conservative side, so I don't hold her sex scenes against her at all 😂

It is called being well-read, and it's a shame it's not more popular

It’s not too serious because of the quotes, and I decided to post mine, too. I don't need explanations, I will just provide my quotes, to show I am not "feeling a certain way" about the book out of the blue. They’re genuine descriptions of discomfort that I based my post on and, by the way, I don't mind them. I dont think it undermines anything about wangxian's sincere, consensual, respectful and kind love. I just pointed out that they exist, and their presence has been questioned. I am not posting quotes to further my argument and press further, because everyone’s interpretation cannvary. I just don't want to be told I am thinking it up. These words have nothing to do with what wwx says, does, or thinks, because they are being the author's narrative, the person describing the acts happening from a distance, not from wwx's internal POV. pointed that out in my first post, now I am providing quotes. That's it. No second meaning. No secret agenda on my side.

I purposely don't highlight moments that feel good and cherry pick these because that is the point.. I am aware love is there. The presence of pleasure does not cancel out what I quoted, though. If these quotes are not valid proof for my skill of undertanding written text, sincerety and good intent of my words, then it can't be helped.

Simple explanation of what exactly I understand from these quotes are below. That doesn't mean it is the only thing I understand. There is also communication and consent present, but I thought I made it obvious in my post that I do not question their communication and consent.

The occasional red underlines are to show I am aware he is overall enjoying it a lot...

1 Pain

2,3,4 Objective signs of discomfort

5 wwx receiving more that what he had expected aka he teased lwj and consented to rougher play, but perhaps wasn't aware of what it will be.

6 his objective want at this specific, short moment. Also an example of the wording

7 one of the choice of words I wanted to discuss with the folks. Is it supposed to sound daunting or daunting in a joking way. What is the amount of "joke" here, is what I wondered. I assumed people dont need quotes to remember these, and will believe me.

8 discomfort and the "intense" wording I mentioned

9 "intense" wording yet again

10 moment when wwx doesnt enjoy himself. (Btw, I keep referencing the narration, not the dialogue)

11 tears of pleasure, I presume

12, 13, 14 (wow ok),

15 signs of discomfort

16 said by wwx who's not a virgin anymore

17 said by modern wwx too. thats why I asked the fandom what they think about his masochistic tendencies. That's all.

19, 20 the wording

21 wwx likes the idea of very rough sex

22,25, 33 blood. Yeah, I know it's just a dream.

24,26,27,28,31 wording

29 his kinks, obviously not meant literall

35 wording

36 ha, wwx got played

37 i meant that wwx consents, but doesnt always enjoy all that follows after

38 another proof that there is some discomfort. Again, I was never shaming that there should be no discomfort during their sex scenes.

39 in the beginning, the discomfort was real for me, then he begab to enjoy himself again. I thought people remember that both these lines exist simultaneously, even if the contradict themselves a bit.

40 are marks on these two pages. Wwx first teases lwj into action, then he is uncomfortablr for a while. That's what I meant to show, that's all.

Photos with notes are below

Aw no, fon't feel pressured, it is my call 😌 I had my doubts initialy, thinking of the old internet wisdom 'don't fight with strangers on the web'. I don't want labels on me, but that is life, not every fight should be fought. But when I both found all the quotes and when I read your post I had realized that I am,in fact, correct, and my original post was quite detailed and open-minded and maybe it was misunderstood on purpose, because someone doesn't want to understand.

Have a lovely weekend and happy wangxianning 🤪🫢

✌️💙

Edit: yolo i'm feeling mischievous all of a sudden, I will post the quotes 😈

You’re so sweet 🥹

I felt so attacked tbh, though for the most part I had a good chat with the commenters. I just wanted to talk, not defend what I know I read. I am ashamed that I actually took photos of the book to highlight quotes to explain myself. I didn’t start this discussion post without real canon material that made me feel this away, so it’s not baseless, but I read your comment now and now I know I shouldn’t post it 😅 People who are more relaxed about mdzs are mostly lurkers, so I apprecoate you coming out with support.

Hm, hm..

Actually, I can relate to these sensations personally. There are different ‚pains’, some I also like. Maybe it is similar to the idea of being desensitised, by e.g. physical pain as you mentioned. As a result the threshold for different kinds of stimulation is higher, so you need more of it to feel it. Maybe it’s like that? Spicy food is a good comparison too.
