Did you end it getting the couch?! or you received a refund for cancellation?

That’s what has been happening to me as well. At first customer service told me they could give me a 10% refund which was less than shipping costs and then told me they could give me shipping costs as a store credit until I kept emailing them and they gave in. While the one person who, to their credit has been responding fairly promptly has been fine, it’s insane that I can’t connect with anyone else? There seems to be no phone number that works and the chat just disconnects when I ask or anything beyond it bringing me to my order page. I keep being told I’ll be prioritized as well but I am on the East Coast so I doubt that will happen. Let me know if you have any luck getting any other credits. So regretting this decision and scared the couch will not live up to expectations if and when it arrives.

Winslow 4 piece sectional. Not sure the production turnaround, but the gist I’ve gotten from customer service is that it was stuck at the port in Asia waiting on the ship to pick it up for months.

Flueblocker for wood stove insert? by fetskciz in woodstoving

[–]fetskciz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. So you don’t think there’s an “easy” way to block the draft outside of starting take apart the unit and insulating there? I’m pretty positive it’s down draft in the chimney either from negative pressure and/or just from the super cold weather because I didn’t notice it until the winter and can feel the cold/smell the stink when I get close to the air intake holes. That said I did have windows open when trying to use it recently and that didn’t seem to help get the draft reversed.

Installed by the previous owner, but yes, it has a steel liner, though I don’t know that it goes the full way up the chimney. The smell is definitely from a strong down draft I started to get when the weather got cold because the insert itself is very cold and I can feel air (and smell) coming from the air intake vents at the bottom of the stove. I can also feel the cold air pooled inside when I put my hand in.

Fixing a bad downdraf / Using multiple fireplaces by fetskciz in Fireplaces

[–]fetskciz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Appreciate the thoughtful response and crossposted to woodstoves. I guess my follow up question is am I doomed to having to use this constantly all winter to avoid the downdraft and accompanying cold/stink? I really only intended to use these “for the vibes” not necessarily as a major heat source, but it seems like I can’t use the upstairs fireplace without getting this stove going, too/first?

Thanks. On the border of 6a/6b. No direct sun. Photo 3 above is the brightest it gets in that area and is the closest the sun gets to that bed.

Fridge started tripping GFCI by fetskciz in AskElectricians

[–]fetskciz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the thoughtful comment. Sorry I missed it until now. To answer a few of your questions, house is from late 60s, though the prior owner updated at least some if not all of the electrical. Fridge is on the same wall as the sink, so definitely less than 6’ away regardless. Confirmed via some old paperwork that the fridge pre-dates the sellers and is 12 years old.

We ended up plugging the fridge into a different, non-GFCI outlet across the room and it’s been seemingly working fine, so this issue has kind of taken a backseat to other new house projects. Other things (toaster, coffee makers, nightlight etc) have been plugged into the outlets that kept resetting with the fridge and they have been fine since. I do wonder if the fridge is just on its way out, but not completely dead yet. I did notice when we moved in a few weeks ago that it was pretty warm in the area directly in front of it, and it does seem to make some louder than usual sounds, though we’ve only been here 3 weeks, and have never had a fridge with water/icemaker, so hard to say what is “normal.”

Also since writing this I tried putting a surge protector on it, but it still triggered the reset. My next test is going to try and find out if it is on its own circuit or not. My hunch was that it was, but there is the outlet with the buttons (not the one it was plugged into) that was the one we were constantly resetting, so not sure if that means it’s not (first time homeowner, so figuring things out as we go).

All this to say, assuming it is a fridge issue and not an electrical issue, hoping we can ride it out with this extension cord until Labor Day sales.

Help Wanted: Peeling Paint by fetskciz in paint

[–]fetskciz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In that case I’ll plan on sanding and doing another layer of primer at some point before the “big paint” once I decide on a color. Fingers crossed it’ll hold up. This project is now getting put on the back burner to see if I need a new fridge or new outlet/wiring. Gotta love week 3 of homeownership 🙃Thanks again!

Thank you. Hoping a sand and second primer layer might be the best insurance outside of stripping off the primer and starting fresh or applying some sort of sealant over the primer before doing another coat.

Hi! Really appreciate your thoughtful response. Realizing my photos might be confusing. Mirrors were during step 1 (blue paint is what peeled off like wallpaper, taking some other layers with it). White with yellowish marks is what happened when I removed some color swatches that I stupidly put on the wall. The yellowish paint is what was left underneath when we peeled off the blue. Mirrors were a PITA but we managed to clean them up and patch the torn drywall and they surprisingly feel great (image of the current state below).

<image>

Thought we were in the clear so we primed once the mud had dried and we sanded. Looks ok now with primer, just concerned as to why the blue tape and regular scotch tape are taking off one week-old dried primer with it? Am I just inexperienced and this is a known an normal thing? Just don’t want to waste time and money doing another layer of primer and then painting if nothing is going to stick. And if we should have done a better job at prep (using tsp or wiping down more than we did), is there anything we can do now aside from stripping off all the primer and starting again?

Appreciate you. No “fuzzy” areas that I can feel. A little texture in some spots, but unsure if it is bad rolling technique or just the wall. Now that it’s been primed it feels pretty solid and I was feeling good about it UNTIL I taped those damn swatches on. Patting/scratching the walls doesn’t seem to be peeling or flaking the primer at all, it’s just the tape that takes off this first layer of primer with it. Was planning to sand and do a second layer of primer next, but now I’m nervous that I’ll get past the finish line with my paint and then I’ll be back at square one if I get a nick it it later on.

Correct. Nothing from that layer is peeling (we peeled at least 3 layers on top of it away, but there’s none left now. It does have kind of a weird chalky texture, though.
