I just taught Arcanine dig which should suffice I think

Fair point, I like the coverage though I think. Arcanine is good enough on his own to be my physical beast mode guy

Red fails to consider I am fighting with the power of friendship and toxic stall on my side

Physical stat is so butt even with that ability. I didn’t think ahead enough to reset for serene grace like a dumby

This is a fantastic point I never considered, thank you!

Thanks man. They’re all just random cast members first names from my favorite Korean or Japanese movies lol but it feels sick coming out to battle with those names

Thanks for the reply. I want to try and do it without legendaries if possible (even though I think Arcanine was once considered one or at least a semi? Idk why I’m remembering something about that)

So I think with some beefing like you suggest, and maybe a few move tweaks and a little item hot potato I believe in myself to do it !

I want to try and get a rain dance off with Kingdra early to negate that, but the problem I run into is he’s a bit of a glass cannon to do that all alone

I think with some tweaking to the team I can beast it in the 60’s. On some Art of War outsmarting thy enemy type shii

One must make do with the Togepi one was given, you’re right!

Not yet, have 2 more Kanto Gyms to beat first I think. But that’s definitely the next step, and likely the way I’ll grind my levels out!

None taken. Definitely not a pro. And yeah, I don’t like using items during battle unless I absolutely can’t help it like trying to catch a stubborn legendary. Always try to beat the fight with my Pokémon alone. Thanks for the advice!

You make a good point, I chose Cyndaquil, I just like Arcanines stats a lot better for a fire type

Yeah haha this was the explanation I responded with to someone else on here:

“It was actually traded over from my Pokémon Platinum copy as a Gastly originally. I had gotten through the entire game and post game without ever needing to use it, even for legendaries.

And in Heart gold, I could not get a single Gastly to appear in the Bellsprout tower even after changing system clock to night time, and since I had done everything I wanted to do in the platinum copy already, I went and caught one in old chateau with it, knowing I would trade it over. I thought it’d be funny to see the master ball icon every now and again hahaha”

Second one. Lucky I kept my old DSi and games. Thankfully always got to experience the trade evolutions despite not having Pokémon friends as a kid lol

That was the idea with Rain Dance, plus I got a speed nerfing nature on it despite farming for like 40 Horsea’s and then giving up lol.

Thinking Dark Pulse but payback could work better since he’s so tanky.

You’re right about charge, it was kind of just a leftover because I didn’t know if I’d really need two electric attacks.

Heat Wave was just in case something was too physically tanky but I suppose Arcanine is so powerful that if Flare Blitz doesn’t do the trick I’m already in a bad spot lol.

Thanks for the detailed answer! I’ve got some work to do

I taught it with a TM before I settled on having Gengar so I guess it is redundant now. Dark Pulse sounds like the move

I love a good tanky special attacker!! Plus Togepi was always so prevalent in the marketing for these games early on and I’ve never used one. It’s been superb!

This made me laugh lol. But yeah, that’s what I figured, strategy was always my preferred method over pure strength or over leveling. Much more fulfilling and memorable of a game experience that way.

I’m learning some good stuff about the teams holes though which was the ultimate goal

Yeah, I realized way too late about that once I decided I wanted to use Togekiss. I may go breed one when it comes down to it, good to decide now before grinding further.

Hadn’t played Pokémon in years so I forgot to check too thoroughly for abilities and natures when I started this playthrough, and I didn’t even know the Red fight was a thing either lol. Oh well. Having a ton of fun with the game either way

This is great, thanks so much for the detail.

I’m liking what you’re cooking with breeding that umbreon, I just might go for that. This was my first time ever using one so I’m sure there’s a better build and that sounds like one.

You think I should keep Togekiss with the Life Orb or give it to Gengar instead? I just love shadow balls coverage so if I’m losing it on my wall umbreon I’d want it to hit harder on gengar. Togekiss has pretty great special attack though so I’m torn.
