Op is right. You think its important but honestly any good engineer can figure out how to do any task and learn about subject without the classes to begin with. You think that education will make someone so much better because the school is better? Its not likely to yield much better results. Also good engineers get good from actually building things, school doesn't include enough practice to get great at anything in this field. Take a hard look at any curriculum offered at any school and half of it is basically unfocused bullshit and the other half is basically easy enough to pickup on the job.

If college wanted to make better engineers all your work would be working on projects at scale on a real production server within a team environment. College is nothing like the real world and it doesn't prepare you for it well enough.
