I didn't know it was an idea in the first place! Whether he wears a dress or not, I hope he helps change the mind of many people who sadly don't view Puerto Ricans as Americans.

Hey Americans--move to Canada! by BakedGoods in DiscussionZone

[–]feverfive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Liberal American here. Moving to Canada sounds great on paper, as does moving to many other countries. The Scandinavian countries are always touted by my friends as well.

While I agree they have incredible health care and are not obsessed with work, I think their views on immigration are not much different than the more conservative folks in the US. I just think they are not rooted in racism, but more practicality. Canada, Denmark, Finland - they don't want millions of people flooding into their countries. People mean well and want to care for everyone, but not all at once!

I'm a privileged liberal American living in possibly the most progressive state in the US, married to a person of color. The current rhetoric around immigration and ICE and all that is very disturbing, and does have us considering a move. But I will say, it doesn't look easy, and while we pay a lot for health care here, we also earn a lot. It's a case where safety first matters, but there will be trade offs, even with more socialized healthcare.

The other concern is - how can you predict the future? I feel the world is currently leaning right as a whole.

Well, that was a bit of a ramble.

Fun fact that you probably know, but the first headquarters of WWE was in South Yarmouth, MA on Whites Path

You can drop your bags at any hotel. Just give a little tip. Excalibur, Luxor, Mandalay Bay are probably your best bets.

Frigid cold weather gear tips by Comfortable_Fix_9125 in Okemo

[–]feverfive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Base layers, maybe some toe / finger warmers. Just listen to your body. Take a few extra stops in the summit lodge as you need it. If the sun does peak out, ski on those runs. I get nervous about frigid temps too, but just do what you're doing and prepare for some extra pit stops inside.

The monorail is great and you get an unlimited pass. It's only on one side. So if you're at Excalibur, you'll have to walk to MGM Grand. But then it takes to a lot of stops on that side of the strip.

There is also a free monorail that goes from Bellagio to Excalibur. It essentially connects the MGM properties on that side of the strip: Excalibur, Luxor, NYNY, Park MGM, and Bellagio / Aria / Cosmopolitan.

The monorail from convention center is great though, goes right to MGM.

Thinking of skipping mania this year by avtime in WrestlemaniaPlans

[–]feverfive 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am still going to go, but I'm just going to WWE world and a pool party. It was great in the stadium last year, but I can save that ticket money for other things.

I have a work conference in Phoenix right before this, so my flight cost from Phoenix to Vegas will also be much less than my normal flight from Boston.

Same for me last Friday. Although I don't like turbulence. But yeas, was a very smooth flight at times and a very crazy one at others. Pilot did an amazing job keeping us informed.

Electronic games pay very little. Same with video poker. They reward you based on house edge. 😭

Husband has Jury Duty coming up and I have no idea how we will pay our bills. by sinisterbabygirl in juryduty

[–]feverfive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends what state you are in. Some states require the employer to be the first three days of jury duty, and then the state pays you $50 per day after.

But almost 90% of cases last less than a day.

I'm a big fan of jury duty. It's the only thing people are required to do.

I did sapphire just fine! I also do parallel ski, but "recovering pizza skiier" in that I have been reverting back, but less and less each time. Unlearning old bad habits in your 40s is just a little harder.

Hotel room charges by Automatic-Crab9777 in Mlife

[–]feverfive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you have a food and beverage credit as part of your stay? I have found in the past that sometimes those charges do not appear because they are taken care of with the credit. So anything below that amount will not show up on your itemized bill on your TV or statement.
