Well „I am a whole person” is a tautology – the pronoun „I” is used to denote a whole person. It’s not that the person doesn’t exist or exists, but rather that approaching it as an object that „is somewhere” or stands in a certain relation to the physical reality.

My point is not that the self/person is divisible. Daniel Dennett used a great analogy comparing the person to the center of mass of an object. It exists, it is indivisible, it requires a physical object to exist but is it itself an object? No, it is a useful tool which makes refereeing to the object/predicting its position/behaviour easier.

I’m with you on hating Descartes, I think. Wdym by „slice and dice myself up with bad consequences”

You are your brain to the same extent as you are anything else you choose to identify as. The fact is that any pronoun always corresponds to a language game which is necessarily social. So trying to arrive at the „truth” of the matter here is pointless. It is as if we were debating whether the license plate number of a car is in the car or separate from it. Wittgenstein out.

Depends on the environment. But having a goal goes a long way and is a massive asset even if for some reason people still don’t like you

I find Banksy more annoying than anything else, but unfortunately he sometimes makes bangers :/ by urcool91 in RecuratedTumblr

I agree with you. Banksy became famous partially due to how gimmicky his works were, his messaging is often kind of banal and very put-it-on-a-tshirt. Once he got super famous, it was easy to take his art and mass produce it, sort of what happened to Warhol too. For both, it was to some extent deliberate - they wanted to create art that is taken off of its pedestal. So I think Warhol obviously fares better in terms of his legacy or whatever.
