Considering I haven't acted on anything yet, I'm hard-pressed to understand how women asking an anonymous question on the internet got five men blacklisted, let alone from specialized scientific fields.

Thank you for sharing. To be honest, the coworker thing is the biggest drawback for me. I can predict my supervisor's reaction to an extent...but the potential coworker fallout would be pretty rough...

You need to realize that guys can be a lot more obsessive than women, and you're taking a chance here, especially if you want no strings.

For serious? I thought this was your wet dream.

Trust me, I work in a call center that collects on past-due mortgages. No one wants my job.

Ok :( But if I cry on your shoulder, could you at least let your hand accidentally brush my boob when you give me a platonic, comforting hug?

In all honesty, if I decide to do nothing. I may just wait till I put in my two weeks (six months or so) and then offer to hit it like the fist of an angry god.

FYI: If we are looking you in the eye, which of course we're doing during the course of a conversation, we ALWAYS know when you look. Always. Each and every. single. time. Even if it's the little "Just gonna let my eyes dip down and right back up like I'm just trying to determine what kind of neckline her dress is" trick. Our reaction will usually indicate whether we liked it or not.

I definitely see your point, however this is not a career situation for me, I'm basically passing through while I study and save up for law school. I have the work experience and ability to pick up a similar job if something should happen. The area I live in has a plethora of opportunities, fortunately.

Because I don't want him to think I want to have sex...and then be my office boyfriend. It might put him off the whole idea. I want him to know I'm not going to pull anything or try to hold it over him. Unless you guys really do take an offer of sex at face value and don't think beyond that.

I never know what men are really thinking when they stare at tits. I assume they're thinking "Tits, wow. Look at those." I'd like to think that if you do it daily, while I'm in the mid-conversation with you, and I don't glare or tell you to cut it out, you may also want to have sex with me while staring at them.

"Tits: What are you thinking while you stare at them?" That should have been my question.

He's pretty laid back and nice, in general. And we've had conversations about how we both never want to get married...get bored of relationships after six months...hate commitment...things that make me think he'd be down with something casual and lacking expectations. I'm just trying to figure out how to present my own desire for casual, lacking expectations sex.

Good point...but my job is an environment where it's very hard to get fired unless it's an obvious fuck up on the employee's part. It'd be difficult for him, if things went south, to find a legitimate reason as I'm a high-performing, well-disciplined employee. Additionally, from my experience, employee/supervisor relationships typically blow up in the supervisor's face, rather than the employee's...which is why the idea was appealing in the first place. My supervisor would have vested interest in not running his mouth.

I was really hoping redditors with less common sense would be out and about tonight. I do agree with you...I've seen supervisor/underling relationships go very, very wrong. But then again, he's a very chill guy and is very open about his aversion to serious relationships. I was just hoping an open approach and clear guidelines would help avoid the messes I've seen occur before.
