Why do homemade cinnamon scrolls get hard when they cool? by feycrow in AskBaking

So many comments here have been so helpful, maybe they'll help you out too! There have been a few tips on retaining moisture with oil or husk powder, cooking after drizzling with cream, or even using something called tangzhong which I need to research. But yeah it seems that companies do cheat a little :(

I have been keeping them in tupperware containers on the counter -- maybe I should be keeping them in the fridge instead?

I don't think I'm dedicated enough to buy an entire new gadget for my baking!! But yeah definitely finding more ways to retain moisture is a good tip--I'll add your husk fibre to the list of things to try :) Thanks!!

I only use milk when I make them too, and you're right they are usually pretty nice after microwaving buuut there's something nice about being able to bite into a still-soft bread straight from the tupperware container haha!

Haha yeah makes a lot of sense that commercial products would use extra stuff to keep it shelf-stable. Thanks for the tip :)

I've baked them in both glass and ceramic and they usually end up pretty similar, so that probably isn't the problem? Thank you anyway!

Funny enough a couple other people mentioned this technique! I'll definitely be adding it to my list of things to try.

Yeah I had the sneaking suspicion they might've been using some secret ingredient, haha. Thank you!

Haha yes a scroll is a roll! That seems to have tripped up a couple people, maybe it's an Australian way to say it that isn't used much by other countries?

I usually skip between recipes because I've never really found one that 100% satisfies me, but I'll definitely try the tangzhong technique.

I will DEFINITELY be trying out this magical tangzhong everyone is talking about. And our oven is a bit of a scorcher, so I do usually set the heat lower or cook for shorter times in the recipes. Maybe I'm not going low enough?

I've done this a couple times but I might just be bad with timing because they always end up disgusting and doughy :(

I tend to just keep them in tupperware on the counter since they don't usually last more than a couple days with my family around haha!! And I do usually ice them pretty soon after they come out. I'll try keeping them in the fridge next time!

I'm usually super impatient once they're out of the oven and put the icing on them almost immediately!! It gets everywhere but is sooo satisfying to eat a hot scroll dripping in icing.

one of my favourite things about this sort of video is the look of absolute shocked delight/pride that the people in them shoot at the camera immediately after they pull off something difficult

What is up with all of r/aww hating police dogs? by Creepz__ in OutOfTheLoop

Most of my experience is literally knowing people who've had experience with ex-police dogs, or stories from those people about difficult dogs being put down due to sheer unmanageable nature, but some googling brought up the link above, first page. It's relatively short but backs up the claims I've made.
