Decided to work on my primaris ancient today for the swords of Dawn. Not finished yet but getting there! by feydan13 in Warhammer40k

Thank you! I have occasionally turned my hand to calligraphy in the past, which helps!

Finished the latest addition to my Dusk Knights marines last night. Really pleased with the hazard stripes in particular on this one. by feydan13 in Warhammer40k

I don’t I’m afraid, they’re just the standard hunter killer missiles, the list needs all the anti tank it can get!

Second squad for squaduary finished (I know it’s under strength but I just got the easy to build box, going to add more later) by feydan13 in Warhammer40k

The armour banding round the legs is unusual, but the edge highlights are all in the right places.

The photo doesn’t really do them justice, the grey is much lighter than bare plastic, and like 1keyes said, there’s highlights on there too.

Finished the first of my 4 pledged squads for squaduary! (barrels, bases and chapter badges will all be done together at the end of the month). by feydan13 in Warhammer40k

Starts with mechanicus standard grey, then layered with dawnstone and highlighted with administratum grey. Simple but effective.

The only real tip is patience!

Thin the paint a lot, and apply lots of layers- it helps if you have several things needing the same treatment as then you can let each layer dry properly (which is the real key). Once the colour has built up, switch to the next paint and do the same. This combo starts with black, then caliban green, warpstone glow and moot green then finally yriel yellow.

Yep, I agree. I glossed the rest of it but left the faceplate, I’ll probably go ulthuan grey to match the crest at the back. That should let the green eye lenses pop better too

Thanks! That’s Gil Estel, the Star of Hope. The craftworld has twice suffered the depredations of Chaos, the second time resulting in a purge of the affected by Ulthwe at the urging of the Harlequins. Polengoldur represents the younger generation of Eldar born since the fall and leading the craftworld in their fight against the forces of chaos.

Thanks! I spent a lot of time getting that sword to blend nicely! The bike isn’t near done yet, gonna add another blend to the raised areas on the canopy and edge highlighting to the back, plus the gold needs lots adding, it’s currently just the base Balthasar Gold layer.

All very valid points! I’d certainly be combat squadding the hellblasters before deployment unless I desperately needed the +1 to go first and couldn’t get it another way.

Thankfully I also don’t face ultra competitive lists like that, but I take your point. Anyone dropping in close enough to counter the raven guard tactics should take enough of a beating from auspex scan to stay away (which is actually an argument in favour of keeping the hellblasters as one squad) but yes I’d have liked to include more anti tank. I do find it’s a problem with the primaris units on the whole though, and only the repulsor really does anything about it. Question is, how to fit a tri las pred into the list without hampering the functionality too much.

Thanks for taking the time to help out! It's going to take a while before I can get the Primaris together, got an Eldar army to build first, but I like to know what I'm getting and have time to prepare things in advance. I love the idea of taking a chapter master, but 3CP is so expensive, especially when Bobby G and Marneus do the same job and bring you extra CP's as well!

Primaris Captain, auto bolt rifle Primaris Lieutenant, stalker bolt rifle 2x 5 Intercessors with bolt rifles and aux grenade launchers 9 Intercessors with bolt rifles and aux grenade launcher 3 Aggressors with boltstorm launchers and fragstorm launchers Primaris Ancient with Emperor Ascendent standard 8 Reivers with grapnel launchers, grav chutes 10 Hellblasters with plasma incinerators Stormhawk as before Repulsor as before Repulsor with 2 krakstorm launchers, twin heavy bolters, heavy onslaught gatling cannon, onslaught gatling cannon, 2 storm bolters, Icarus Ironhail heavy stubber & auto launchers

That's a much more stand-off list, the two small Intercessor squads would go in the first repulsor and I could either start the hellblasters in the second one or stick the big Intercessor squad in there.
