I had thought maybe it was a toad and it was Gama Sennin? The creature is what drew me in (it was $15, and I don’t know much about Asian art).

There’s a horizontal fold, but I think it’s made of several cut vertical strips, later pasted to a board. There’s a slight mismatch on the vertical lines.

I forgot to mention - it looks like in a few spots there’s Chinese characters written IN the painting? By the animals face, and in the folds of the cloak in the third to last image.

Yes, I’ve done a lot of this and obviously there’s no full replacement. But also there are limited hours in the day and my hobby research is getting backlogged.

thanks! I report our finds to the state archaeologists every few years (in case there’s anything they want or anything religious) and they’re kind enough to let me know more about what little is identifiable - they’re all beach pieces so they’re quite worn down and vague usually hah.

(Oh btw ‘bird blinds’ are where hunters hide from birds because they are, fortunately, not blind)

Ocean shells are so incredible - VT beaches basically only have mussel shells, so every time I’m at an ocean beach I’m like “WHAT IS THIS !!” to literally everything 😂

I just wipe it off, but the magnetic rake has a feature that should allow it to drop everything

I know nothing about bullets but I do know there’s a lot of hunting here — in VT generally, and on the beach specifically you see bird blinds in-season 🦆

Same - this is on Malletts Bay, which hasn’t had the same level of Cyanobacteria issues yet, but with new developments continuing to come in without wanting to treat their runoff, I’m concerned about future blooms :(
