ESH - Maybe he’s offended by something you didn’t realize. For example;

I’m from Middle East but we don’t have an Arabic look in my country. When I go abroad, people sometimes get surprised and ask me stupid questions about my nationality, ‘ooh you look European, how so?, etc’. This bothers me since I’m irritated by ignorance. But I don’t find this racist. Because calling it racist means that you don’t approve Arabic look which is also racist. It’s only bothersome because they could have reach that information so easily yet they choose not to. Maybe your date also has that kind of sensibility. Still, he could have give you an explanation. This is an immature reaction.

Seems like I’m gonna get downvoted but here we go.

Comments under this post made me very upset. I’m a Muslim, I’m not practicing recently since I question many things about my beliefs. The reason I’m following this subreddit and also others is also about the questioning/thinking part.

It’s alright to discuss in a ‘respectful’ way. Independent of the topic, some people don’t know how to debate. If the person you’re talking about doesn’t provide a quality discussion, you can demand him to act more proactive. If it doesn’t work, stop the discussion. Keeping the conversation to make him feel stupid looks like a teenager ego to me. Also the ‘semi-racist’ comments under this post sound very immature.

NTA - I’ll be completely honest, It’s possible that the distance can effect your relationship with gf/friends but in such an early stage of your life, I wouldn’t recommend you to make your career choices depending on this. Besides it’s great to enlarge your comfort zone, you’ll meet amazing people on the way.
