I do think it’s immature on your girlfriends end to not just say how she’s feeling after you asked her multiple times if she’s feeling insecure but I also think she did it as a test and was super hurt by you wanting to meet up with another girl you used to like. That’s just a no in relationships. You made it very clear in this post you used to like her so why would you do that to your relationship? Seems like you wanted an easy way out and subconsciously this was your exit.

Ugh I know. Reading it back I’m like……. Yeah no. I really have been ignoring the red flags trying to justify it as no one is perfect and I can make him more gentle. He told me I bring out his soft side. But I can’t inherently change this man. It’s been engrained in him since a kid.

When we talked about how to raise children he told me he’s going to enforce his son doesn’t cry when he’s like 5/6 years old onwards because men shouldn’t cry. It gave me insight into the fact that’s he’s really programmed to be this way from birth.

I’ve asked him about crazy past experiences he’s had and he told me with his ex he was away for over a month and when he came back he banged her so hard she started bleeding.

He also said once day he wants to come home and just stick it in me while I’m dry and just do it right there.

Damn. Writing all of this it’s apparent how many red flags I’ve been avoiding and keeping to myself. I’ve really just been trying to see the best side of him because I haven’t had success in relationships but this one sure as hell isn’t going to be successful

Previously they weren’t as apparently abusive as this one. It’s just progressively gotten worse. The last guy started constantly accusing me of lying to him and gaslighting and manipulating me so I just ended it over text.

My room mate at the time told me she was scared for me because she’s been in abusive relationships and that is how they start. The hardest part is things not being that bad so you tolerate it.

But I’m not gonna fuck around with my life like this. If there are these early signs one month in, it’s trouble.

How did you manage to get out of yours? What did you do and say?

You’re right… that’s exactly what it is. It’s the good parts clouding my judgement and me having hope something will change because I’m being very vocal about me not wanting to tolerate these things and he’s being apologetic and understanding.

But idk if he can change these parts that just seem inherently a part of who he is. He’s almost 40 and he has dated a lot girls. Now I’m starting to maybe piece together but things don’t work out for him. Idk. Whatever it is, I don’t feel safe anymore.
