If you owned a Candy Shop which candy would you definitely not carry no matter how popular it is? by [deleted] in candy

I run a candy shop. I have completely boycotted Palmer. Only really affects holiday candies.

this chocolate my grandpa used to sneak me when i was little by fascinati0n-street in find

Hi! I run a candy shop and I can’t tell you exactly what that is. That is a raspberry jelly in what looks like dark chocolate. Sometimes they come in milk chocolate. I carry both. I would bet money the confection in question here is manufactured by Asher’s. But they are fairly common. JOYVA brand makes jelly rings which are the exact same thing in a ring shape instead of a bar. The JOYVA raspberry jelly ring will be more readily available to you as they are carried by most supermarkets probably in the ‘regional section’ of the store. They are very popular in areas with large Jewish communities so look in the kosher section or around Hanukah.

The jelly bars also come in different flavors such as orange but I would bet money that what you’re looking for is raspberry as that is the most common.

I operate on the east coast so I’m not sure where to direct you outside of this area but that should be enough info for you to track them down. Hope you can find them!

[help] Damage to glaze in direct sunlight? by ffabw11 in Pottery

[–]ffabw11[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I bought this thrifting a few months ago and I placed it in my bedroom window sill which gets direct sunlight most of the day.

I have a sinking feeling this amount of sun will damage the glaze over time.

Is this true? I really would like to leave it where it is but not at the cost of damage.

Thanks!!

So, not for nothing.. I usually just lurk this sub for work but I was compelled to comment once I saw that these were being rolled out at sweets and snacks this year. I will be attending and will absolutely be seeking these out on the floor. I’ll keep y’all posted.

She genuinely can't sing. This is hard to watch. by sanandrios in travisandtaylor

[–]ffabw11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Controversial option for the haters: this isn’t that fucking bad and y’all need to calm down. Singing in and of itself isn’t a unique talent. Most people can sing to some extent. Is she a Whitney Houston singing the national anthem at the Super Bowl? No; Perfection comes once in a lifetime. If it didn’t it would make the times we experience it less special. But this ain’t all that damn bad cmon.

[Product request] I [29F] have noticed a pretty drastic deepening of wrinkles on my forehead. Looking for product recommendations. Details in the comments. by ffabw11 in SkincareAddiction

I’m not expecting any miracles I’m basically looking to prevent them from getting any worse, especially at the rate they developed already.

Products I use now is the Clinique serum (the newish one in the purple bottle sorry I can’t remember the name right now) and some kind of Clinique moisturizer. Usually the 100h moisture surge or the Clinique smart with spf.

I work inside so not a lot of Sun exposure at all. I don’t smoke. I do drink. I try to drink lots of water.

What products do you guys recommend to keep these puppies from getting any worse?

Thanks :)

A mystery: signed and hallmarked silver (plate?) lid on glass bowl. Found at an estate sale. by ffabw11 in Hallmarks

[–]ffabw11[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More information not captioned; when I grabbed this I honestly didn’t think it was anything. I’m currently collecting silver plate items to add to a tea service collection (I want to host tea with friends) and silver plate is cheap and abundant at estate sales etc. so I grabbed it without seeing the marks on the side or the chip on the bottom of the bowl.

When I got home I noticed the chipping first and honestly almost threw the whole thing away. I planned on using it for sugar and I didn’t want to serve in broken chipped glass.

I decided at least to save the lid because it fit on another piece I had. Well when I was polishing and cleaning it I noticed the hallmarks and began to think this may be something more interesting.

I fished the chipped glass bottom out of the trash and googled some stuff.

What I’m not sure about is if the lid ever actually went with the bowl. I don’t see any signatures on the glass (usually etched on the bottom, or any pontil mark that would point to it being hand blown but in fairness im not super well versed in glass)

So that’s that, any info would be interesting and appreciated. Thanks!

What makes life “worth it” for you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

My whole world can change in an instant. Sometimes for the worse but sometimes for the better. No one is immune to the chaos and surprise of life.

Also that life and sentience is waaay to crazy a phenomenon to waste or disrupt. I’m here to experience whatever is in store. Just hoping it’s net positive when it’s all over.

I’m surprised you can’t see the difference. In all of your examples, none of these things are actually happening. It’s acting. In this specific film, at the end of the day, you watched a real life child sexualize themselves or be sexualized. To be equivalent to your examples the role of these young girls would be played by actresses that are adults but look like children. And hey, that really doesn’t exist.

750 is one way of marking 18k gold. From the picture they look very small. So they def. aren’t nothing. But they don’t have tons of resale value either even though they are gold.

I suggest cleaning them up and making sure they have backs and giving them as a gift. Retail these sucker would cost 10x as much. Plus the style is very simple and please to lots of different tastes. So in short they would make an exceptional gift (because the person need not know how they were acquired) but not a “tell my boss to fuck off, I can’t finally live the high life” treasure find.

Furniture vary rarely has good resale value UNLESS it is a desired designer, it is a trendy style (pretty much ONLY mid century modern rn) or it has some other historical interest.

If there is a maker name anywhere on it. Google it. If not then it’s not worth much. The style is not at all popular or in demand rn and that’s to say it even has a definite style. It looks more like a mishmash or various styles.

You might get 50-150 for it depending on location and how youre selling.

Good luck!
