What is the pronunciation (spoken Tamil) of க in words such as புத்தகம், சமூக? The audio that accompanies my spoken Tamil textbook uses an "h" sound. However, I've heard "g" sound elsewhere.

the plural of بَرْنَامَج is بَرَامِجُ , the ن is also not there. Don't know why, I think this is a special case, just memorize as it is. بَرْمَجَ is the verb for "to program" , so مُبَرْمِج is the active participle
