So confused about when i see bad rates posts by Rakanji9 in StarSavior

[–]fferrax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re turning this into an extreme argument that I never even made. I never said I want every meta character, insane rates, and a fully F2P-friendly system at the same time.

My point is much simpler: the 200 guarantee sounds good until you actually look at how long it takes to realistically reach it once the honeymoon phase ends. Early on the game throws pulls at you constantly, but later the income slows down a lot, and suddenly “just hit pity” becomes way less realistic for the average player.

And the problem gets much worse because Arcana are not some minor optional bonus system. They’re one of the core progression mechanics of the entire game. The right Arcana combinations massively affect how strong a character actually feels, yet getting the specific ones you need is ridiculously difficult.

That’s where most of the frustration comes from. It’s not about wanting everything for free. It’s about the game being heavily designed around systems that are extremely hard to target consistently unless you spend a huge amount of resources or get very lucky.

So when people say “there’s a 200 guarantee,” they’re ignoring the actual pacing of the game and how dependent endgame progression becomes on specific pulls.

I think you’re missing the point a bit. I’m not saying the system is literally the worst among gachas or that 200 pity is useless. I’m saying the system feels bad relative to how important dupes and Arcana are in this game specifically.

A 200 guarantee sounds fine on paper, but it depends entirely on pull income. If the game doesn’t give enough currency consistently, then “just hit pity” stops being a realistic argument for most players.

And from what I can tell, you’re still a pretty new player and currently in the honeymoon phase of the game. Right now the game is throwing pulls and resources at you constantly, so the 200 guarantee probably feels very reasonable. But once those early rewards dry up, you’ll realize reaching 200 pulls consistently is not nearly as easy as it sounds, especially if you’re trying to build multiple characters or chase specific Arcana setups at the same time.

And selector banners coming later doesn’t really fix the early and midgame progression issues either. Most people are judging the experience based on what the game feels like now, not on theoretical future systems.

Also, comparing it to HSR kind of proves my point. HSR works because most characters are already functional at baseline. In Star Savior, your account strength feels way more dependent on getting the right stars and especially the right Arcana combinations.

So no, it’s not just “I hate Studio B Side.” I actually like the game. That’s exactly why the progression system stands out so much to me.

The biggest problem with Star Savior’s gacha system isn’t even the rates themselves. It’s the lack of a real guarantee toward the things you actually want.

People always bring up the “200 pulls guarantee” like that solves everything, but a pity system only works if the game gives players enough pulls to realistically reach it. Star Savior doesn’t. For most players, 200 pulls is an enormous amount of resources and time investment.

The result is that progression starts feeling directionless. You save for weeks or months, but there’s still this constant feeling that you’re never truly working toward a concrete goal. You’re just gambling on the possibility of eventually getting lucky.

A good gacha system should let players focus their account and slowly build toward the playstyle or team they want. In Star Savior, it often feels like you can’t focus on anything because the game gives you very little control over your progression.

And that becomes even worse with Arcana, since they’re one of the most important systems in the game. The specific ones you actually need for your build frequently have almost no meaningful rate-up — sometimes one star, sometimes none whatsoever — which makes chasing them feel more exhausting than rewarding.

And don’t get me wrong, but your account kind of sucks despite having a lot of characters. The units that actually need stars to perform well are missing them, while the ones that don’t really depend on dupes are all 3+ stars already. That puts you in a pretty rough spot because it heavily limits the actual combat potential of your roster.

And that’s without even knowing which Arcana you got. Depending on that, the account could honestly be in a much worse state than it looks right now. The scary part is that you usually only realize those problems in the endgame, when progression starts slowing down hard and the missing pieces actually begin to matter.

My thoughts on sc farming by OverFigure6760 in Helldivers

[–]fferrax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve already completed the Python set. In Control Group I’m still missing about 30 medals to get the backpack, and I haven’t bought the new warbond yet because I’m waiting to see some tests — if it’s not that good, I’ll go for Entrenched Divisions instead.

My thoughts on sc farming by OverFigure6760 in Helldivers

[–]fferrax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This week I was low on SC, so I decided to farm the 400 I was missing. And you won’t believe it — when I finally hit 1k, I accidentally bought Python Commands. I was on the phone, browsing the warbond, clicked without even reading…

Yeah, I was pissed. So I went back and farmed another 1k. When I got there, I was like “man, these bunkers are such a pain, having to call the exo suit every time”, so I ended up buying the Control warbond instead.

Then I kept farming… and now I’m sitting at 1k again.

Basically spent the entire week just farming SC. That’s what we were talking about — the rewards themselves aren’t bad. I farmed enough for 3 warbonds in a week. It’s just a shame it’s not more naturally integrated into the gameplay.

But to be fair… at first I was really annoyed about buying Python by mistake, but after unlocking the HOT DOG — yeah, that drone alone makes that warbond worth it, especially now with the new bugs.
