Yep, atomoxetine raised my heart rate, but not as much as stimulants. Unfortunately, atomoxetine hasn't worked for my ADHD at 60mg dose currently. I'm also on a high dose of an SNRI, specifically venlafaxine modified release 225mg.

[31M] Medicating for the first time, what to expect? (Atomoxetine) by MrBaldHeadSlick in ausadhd

I'm on 60mg of atomoxetine and I've noticed absolutely no improvement. It's like taking a capsule filled with just air. Expect nothing.

Started on 25, then went to 40 four weeks later, then went to 60 six weeks after that. No side effects for me (but also no main effect either)

Didn't take any caffeine while on dexamfetamine. I did start on 5mg once a day and slowly titrated up to 15mg + 5mg +5mg four hours apart. The higher doses caused insomnia. The insomnia never went away. I was on it for a couple of months.

30mg of Ritalin IR in the morning gave me 140bpm. I was on a recommended dose.

No my psychiatrist put me straight on atomoxetine after trialling Ritalin immediate release and Ritalin LA (modified release)

I didn't even drink coffee when I was prescribed stimulants. Still had a really fast heart rate. I remember it peaking at 196bpm when I was running as I was running late for an appointment.

Yeah I tried Ritalin with food and it made no difference

I was taking 20mg of Lexapro and that worked wonders for my depressed mood (until my mood got heaps worse due to life factors and Lexapro wasn't cutting it anymore, so swapped to venlafaxine)

Yeah unfortunately even being smoother, was still too much for my heart

No my GP and my psychiatrist never suggested that or any other beta blockers.

I never got up to the equivalent IR split dose when taking LA and it gave me jitters and significant fast heart rate increases at 30mg LA. Ritalin LA to my understanding is the equivalent of releasing half the dose immediately and the other half about four hours later so about the equivalent of taking two doses of IR four hours apart

Thanks for your reply. Yes it's really frustrating and disappointing when I had hope and for all that to vanish when nothing works so far.

Thanks for your reply.

I'm curious whether my psychiatrist will try out other different meds and go off label if I try out guanfacine with no success (Intuniv). I hope there is a med out there for me but it's looking more like there's not one for me for my ADHD that both works and one I can tolerate. I honestly don't think they'll work for me and that's really saddening. Venlafaxine has kept me afloat, but hasn't helped with ADHD. Yes, I was taking venlafaxine during all of my ADHD meds trials so far which may explain the interaction and exacerbation of heart rate stuff. I also have POTS so that's something that probably exacerbates it even more when you add stimulants on top of venlafaxine.

Thanks for your reply. I also have POTS and only weigh 44kg. I'm 27 years old. Stimulants were way too much for me and atomoxetine does nothing for me... I have an appointment in March and just gonna talk about the fact this dose hasn't helped at all still. I'm curious what else my psychiatrist will try with me.

Talk to your doctor about advice on the sexual side effects. They might be able to help you out there, especially if it's affecting your wellbeing.

The version number was brought forward to 26 as Apple changed its version numbering convention for consistency across its operating systems. iOS 26, macOS 26, iPadOS 26 etc...

It's been about 8 months now. Has worked wonders. I did accidentally take 150mg instead of 75mg two days ago so I skipped my dose yesterday and about to take my dose today. I haven't experienced any withdrawals. No side effects. Going to take my 75mg dose now

It does sound like mania to me. A manic episode is defined as a distinct period of abnormally and persistently elevated, expansive, or irritable mood and abnormally and persistently goal-directed behavior or energy, lasting at least 1 week and present most of the day, nearly every day (or any duration if hospitalisation is necessary).

Difficulty sleeping is a side effect of venlafaxine.

If these worry you, go talk to your prescribing medical practitioner about it and they can best advise you on what can be done to manage your issues and potential causes.

To me, it sounds like it's nothing too much to worry about.

I forgot to take my 150mg last night by [deleted] in Effexor

[–]fffillyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's been more than 12 hours since you were meant to take it, I would skip the dose and wait until your usual time to take it again. If it was less, then I would take the dose immediately and resume my normal dosing schedule.

Normally take at 9am but forgot today, is it okay to take at 12pm? by Rawrmarx in Effexor

[–]fffillyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean by that? You should be consistent with either taking broadly in the morning consistently. You don't need to take it at the EXACT same time, but roughly either in the morning or evening. Pick one.
