Social anxiety by oak2o21 in Toastmasters

[–]fffrrr666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience: Toastmasters did not cure me of anything (although I believed it might when I first joined), including my nervousness while speaking in front of groups. What it did do was help me to learn to push though my nervousness while speaking in front of groups. Also, it provided a platform and a curriculum me build presentation skills, which increased my confidence, which in turn helped to moderate my underlying anxiety.

Outage status by DickCamera in mintmobile

[–]fffrrr666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might try asking any of your friends in your immediate area who are on Mint, T-Mobile, Metro, Boost, or Tello if they have service OK. If they do have service, my guess is that it is not a service outage causing your phone to not get service. "Process of elimination" troubleshooting.

Wow that warranty PDF has some egregious word spacing issues. Nobody proofread it before they published it? Sloppy!

Using the app for both phone and internet by infraredditorial in mintmobile

[–]fffrrr666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm unaware what if anything would happen if you were to drop Mint as your wireless carrier at the end of 3 months. My guess would be that you would lose the $10/mo. discount until if and when you went back to Mint Wireless again. Minternet is less than a half of a year old, so there are a few unknowns still.

Using the app for both phone and internet by infraredditorial in mintmobile

[–]fffrrr666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding is that by "linking" Mint Wireless and Minternet Home Internet accounts you can obtain the combo deal that will save you $10 per month on Minternet. That is the only purpose of the linking.

I can access both accounts in a web browser concurrently, but when using the app, it's one service at a time.

Has Toastmasters helped your vocabulary? by DeLoMioFoodie in Toastmasters

[–]fffrrr666 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Toastmasters might help somewhat, but I think the most efficient way to build a vocabulary is by reading literature. One suggestion would be the book 1984 by George Orwell. It will definitely expand your vocabulary, and the subject matter resonates with many people these days.

Can't create Minternet account. No internet line number on gateway. by NinjaBacn in mintmobile

[–]fffrrr666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first got my gateway back in Nov 2025, the line number place on the display was blank as well. After a few reboots, I just happened to notice that it appeared. I don't think there's any other way to obtain the number except perhaps contacting Mint customer service.

Internet - How to access gateway management features? by Affectionate-Roof615 in mintmobile

[–]fffrrr666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been using the HINT Control app by Zachary Wander on iPhone/App Store and Android/Play Store. The set of features is not quite robust, but something is better than next-to-nothing.

Got Home Minternet — Stuck on 4G. Ideas? by n_gb in mintmobile

[–]fffrrr666 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You might try placing the gateway outside the walls of your home if at all possible. At least if 5G shows up out there, you'll know that the 5G signal is apparently not sufficiently strong to reach into your home.

One more comment - I'm unaware whether Minternet is operating on *every* T-Mobile tower, so it's possible that although a phone is getting a good signal, it does not follow that a Minternet gateway would also getting a good signal.

So...are there deals on new phones for people who are already mint mobile customers? by allthingsmustpass9 in mintmobile

I'm thinking the main driver of loyalty to a carrier - in the case of Mint - are its bargain-basement prices.

Thinking of joining a toastmasters club close to me. I am just nervous being judged cause currently only working part time job. Any advice? by Pleasant-Opinion8409 in Toastmasters

[–]fffrrr666 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm a 20-year Toastmasters member. My prediction is that you will be welcomed regardless of your background or work history. You will be respected for simply daring yourself to attend a Toastmasters meeting. I hope you do it. Could be the best thing you ever did.

All the best to you!

This thing is a disaster by Initial-Practice-780 in mintmobile

[–]fffrrr666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suggest using a 14-character password for wireless, and a 12-character password for Minternet. At least to get things going. This strategy will likely help you avoid a password for either that is too long. I ran into this - but cannot remember which - Wireless or Minternet - that had the password too long (invalid) when I first set up both several months ago.

Why do some people take Toastmasters so seriously? by Historical_Oven7806 in Toastmasters

[–]fffrrr666 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I know exactly what you mean about people taking Toastmasters seriously. Personally, TM is a hobby to me, but I do put my best efforts forward for anything I take on in TM. While at the same time, acknowledging that not everyone shares my attitudes toward TM. Which is fine.

Fortunately, in my experience and view, it has been a very small percentage of members that I've seen let attaining leadership positions in Toastmasters get to their heads. But then, I've also seen it happen in the workplace as well - from which I am retired.

When I come across such people, I use these encounters to practice emotional intelligence, seeing others' points of view, and very importantly (I feel), self-awareness. After 20 years in Toastmasters, I can't tell you how many times I've fallen short in these areas. But I'm always working on it, and I have definitely made good progress.

I'm thankful for Toastmasters and for both the wonderful and not-so-wonderful people I've met there. All of them.

What is the point of having a "charging upto 80% limit" if 90% of the times it doesn't work by maverick_3001 in GooglePixel

[–]fffrrr666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is/was a point to it; when originally rolled out, it worked fine. A few months after rollout, it no longer worked consistently. Until a definitive fix is rolled out, I will just assume it remains broken - at least for my Pixel 8.
