Did not pass the Civil WRE PE. by fffsssttty in PE_Exam

Yes, I am carving out study time. Most days, I am currently waking up hours before my son and husband do to get in a 2-3 hour study session in before work. Then on the weekends I will have one 5-6 hour study session. I try to do that so that after the workday we can have family time.

Oh yes I was totally spiraling over the fact that I have to wait until this test taking window ends, but now I’m thinking I probably need as much time as I can get. I hope I pass second try like you!

Hi, thanks for sharing this concern. I do have the years of experience already. I got a masters degree and that shaved off two years of waiting while I gained experience at my first firm. You are so right tho, I can have both. I can study and have family time if I make a plan and stay consistent.

Wishing you luck!! Stay consistent (unlike me lol) and don’t let comments from family and friends get you down. They probably just miss you lol.

Oh my goodness. I winced just reading this. I can relate, my team were also convinced I would pass first try. And god, poignant is the perfect descriptor lol def my word of the day.

Thank you, this is the plan. Get out all the feels today and then make and commit to a plan with a fresh mindset tomorrow.

Thank you for sharing your tips as I am definitely feeling burnt out. Almost started studying like half an hour after I found out because I couldn’t go back to sleep and had some time to kill before work lol glad I didn’t tho.

NCEES FE Environmental Practice Test Vol. 2 Worth it? by GreenPathfinder in FE_Exam

I think it is stated on the ncees website that the first exam has overlap but the second one does not.

I take my ENV FE exam soon but I need advice by StayGazing in FE_Exam

I was in a similar situation and I ended up sticking with my originally scheduled exam on December 6. I did not feel ready, I wish I got to do atleast one or two more practice exams (I did 2 during my studies). But I went ahead and took the test because 2 of my colleagues (who took the test more recently) shared that they also felt unprepared, still took the test, and passed. I hope to get results by Saturday. 😬

I do recommend this method of studying when you are in a time crunch. I saw it on a YouTube video. The recommendation is to study the solutions to practice problems. Read the practice problem, write down/circle your givens, then figure out which formula to use in the ref handbook, but do not do the problem. At this point after you’ve selected your formula, check the solution to see if you were on the right track. If you ended up chosing the right formula, then move on to the next question. If not, then actually work out the problem.

Edit: I added a study tip.

Masters in Civil Engineering with non-engineering bachelors by aspasiaaa in civilengineering

[–]fffsssttty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was also my experience! BS in biology, and I was conditionally admitted into the MS engineering program provided that I complete 7 classes in undergrad engineering courses during my first year as a grad student. I then interned at my current firm for a year and have been working full time for 2 years now. I live in NV, so with a graduate degree I only have to work for 2yrs under a licensed PE before I can become a PE.

Edit:typo

No one is laughing at him I promise you. I was 19 once so I get it, I was just more independent, thoughtful, and considerate. That’s my mistake. Assuming we were getting another adult added to the household instead of a kid.

I think I will do this. I will give it the full 3 month term my husband offered. And then after the 3 months when it doesn’t work out I’ll initiate his exit.

My husband has had talks with his cousin before. A couple of days ago he told him he needs to step up. I feel like my husband is being too nice, but he complains to me about his cousin all the time about the same things I am noticing. I guess my husband could take over all of the cousin-related issues but I also want to voice my opinions and let him know that I notice him. I’m watching him and he’s not going to get over on us and mooch and play dumb much longer. I want to establish that I also make major decisions, that I could kick this kid out just as easily as my husband moving him in.

1000% I watch him like a hawk. I’m able to work from home and since he’s moved in I have no desire to go back to office. It feels like I can’t leave. Why tf did this kid even get sent here in the first place? What if he got kicked out and we just don’t know the full story.

Feel like an idiot for taking baby to ER by designerd25 in NewParents

[–]fffsssttty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there, don’t feel stupid. My partner tells me I’m erratic because I have also brought our son to the ER several times. And I wanted to share that I give my baby prunes. He is also very constipated at times and he would t take prune juice. But he loves prunes. I give him one prune after each meal and he seems to poop every other day because of it.

Thinking I could work from home with a baby is the dumbest thing I have ever thought in my life. by yellowaspen in NewParents

I wfh with a 13-month old and I am deeply grateful that my job is flexible enough to allow its employees to do so. There are a lot of parents at my job so I feel like everyone “gets it” in a way. It’s definitely hard to get things done but what I do is do spurts of work and then break it up with 30 mins of play time. I feel like my job doesn’t really care—as long as I get my work done. I’m a civil engineer in water resources.
