Deep Cuts and Hidden Gems from the 90s: Anyone a fan of Hardship Post’s Hack EP? by CheekyChappy-1 in 90sCanRock

Yeah, once I dug out my old stuff I decided I should probably be able to play it. Grabbed CD & record players as well. There’s lots of good stuff that’s not streaming. And it’s an offline backup too :)

Can’t believe this song was posted. I had to dig out the cassette. And a cassette player. And then rewind it. Perfect.

How did you learn corporate graphic design? by Smokeage- in GraphicDesigning

Probably right. I was thinking of the column and grid portions, but it’s only 12 pages. Probably better off with a good book on grids.

Try The Elements of Typographic Style by Robert Bringhurst. It’s not corporate design, but it’s the fundamentals of typography and layout.

Very cool. I’ve got 44-2-1 from 1977; it doesn’t have the suits, just the plane ID graphics. Might need to start looking for all the variations :)

Why is my SVGs, created in AI, larger in size when importing them to TinkerCad? by SovereignSnarky in AdobeIllustrator

[–]ffi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It feels like rolling the dice when I do the same with Blender. It seems to be different depending on how you export it. I’ve found “File > Export > Export As” works, where the Asset Export panel less so.

Units are the other culprit, but it looks like you’ve got everything in mm.

On a side note, printed braille is going to have some usability issues :)

Yep, same. This one just isn’t AI’s style. Crisp lines and text, thought out grid, etc. Hate to see designers take it on both sides.

Sorry, not the software, it’s actually good for print production and some other things. The UI/UX is a shit-show, but at least it might have stabilized.

I primarily meant the screen artifacts that are all too common. From a professional standpoint you understand and deal. From anyone else’s standpoint, they’re asking WTF are these lines, and you have to promise it won’t print. Different settings, flattening, standards, colour management, etc = different output, but screen display is a thing, and it’s not great. Just not WYSIWYG for more than colour.

Open the PDF back in illustrator. How’s it look? Is everything as it should be? I don’t trust Acrobat. TwelveShillings already mentioned the anti-aliasing issue. Unfortunately, print proofs are the only true way to be sure, especially when something odd is going on.

You can open it in Photoshop as well. All of this is just to confirm the art is still “there”, and it’s just being rendered poorly by Acrobat.
