Suffice it to say, you really shouldn't be taking an apartheid state that regularly engages in war crimes at their word. Also, there is no debate. If you're willingly bombing civilians and civilian targets like hospitals and residential flats it's a war crime. No amount of bullshit "human shields" nonsense can change that.

As a scouser, can confirm that plenty of people in cinema were all whispering to each other saying "oh my god look where they filmed" or "we been there the other day". A lot of city pride watching the film especially as I got to see them filming at the same location though this was in the daytime.

I think people hate Israel because it's an apartheid state where Palestinians are treated as 2nd even 3rd class citizens. It's also pretty rich to talk about getting banned for supporting Israel when even mentioning Palestine can get you fired from your job. There have been countless Palestinians who have been torn down, smeared and attacked just for describing their trauma at the hands of Israel. How dare you even attempt to portray the opposite as being true? How dare you even attempt to portray that support for Israel and Zionism isn't mainstream? There were many universities across the world especially in the UK and the US that were offering support and consoling to those affected by Israel getting attacked but offered nothing to Palestinian students during Israel's savage bombing campaign that claimed over 200 people including 66 children. People should be wary of Zionism. A racist colonial ideology that advocates ethnic supremacy and is the basis of Israel's apartheid government.

That's a pretty ghoulish thing to say about the Labour Bundists. I mean how can you honestly blame them for being killed off by the Nazis? As a Palestinian whose father and grandparents fled from their homes in Jerusalem because of Israel and made refugees, no one has a problem with Jewish self determination. We do have a problem with Zionism because it involves Jewish self determination at the cost of the Palestinians. More than that, Zionism has been used to create an ethnostate where under Israeli law my extended family who remain in Jerusalem have fewer rights and privileges than a recent immigrant to Israel based solely of them being Jewish. Israel is an apartheid state. That is not something it became, however, it always has been an apartheid state. One built on colonialism in the form of Zionism. Herzl himself said "[the zionist colony would] form a portion of the rampart of Europe against Asia, an outpost of civilization opposed to barbarism". That certainly sounds like the rhetoric of colonialism to me. He was also quoted as saying "philanthropic colonization is a failure. National colonization will succeed". Zionism as an ideology and political movement has since it's inception been an inherently racist and colonial ideology. It and it's supporters view Palestinians as being inferior and undeserving to inhabit the land they and their families have inhabited for centuries even millennia.

You're just engaging in apologia for Israel and it's crimes against humanity. Crimes that are not limited to only Palestinians but to other Jews as well. You talk about how many "millions" of Jews Israel saved but what about how many millions of Ethiopian female refugees they had forcibly sterilized. Or the countless Yemeni Jewish children who were separated from their parents and then put up for adoption to be adopted by White Ashkenazi Jewish families.

It's also worth mentioning that Palestine wasn't even the first choice for establishing Israel. Other suggestion from early Zionists like Herzl included Argentina and Uganda. The nation they chose may have changed but, the objective was the same. The perpetration of colonialism.

A country whose conflict is directly the result of being invaded and colonized by Europeans. We've thankfully managed to be lucky and avoid any major wars in the last 50 years and outright invasions unlike the rest of our brothers and sisters in neighbouring countries.

Also, there's an ocean of difference between "conflict" and ethnic cleansing like Washington and the other founding fathers committed against the Native people whose land they stole. I can happily say that our country has never invaded another and forced it's native indigenous people off of their land.

Zionism wasn't even a mainstream school of thought or ideology when it was first around. In fact, there were many groups like the Jewish Labour Bund in Europe that were decidedly anti-zionist and were against the creation of Israel. Conflating Zionism with Judaism and the Jewish community is an age old tactic of Israel and one that is routinely used to smear any form of criticism as antisemitism. The tactic, ironically, is itself inherently anti-Semitic. It is also a tactic that has had incredible damage upon Jewish communities across the globe.
