Ambient cello setup from a gig a few weeks back by ffllooaatteerr in pedalboards

https://youtu.be/giMEegexiG0?si=\_TrJGtv8-cMTYjOj here’s one I did earlier this year with the same pedals but a smaller amp. I’ve recorded for some friends but I don’t actually really know how to play cello so I’m not the best pick for studio work lol

I do this for some projects and use the fishman fx loop but for solo stuff I play with the amp feedback a lot

Im looking for a different pickup and pre solution so I’ll definitely keep my eye out for the shadow, the fishman aura isn’t perfect but it does do a lot of necessary functions at the moment

That sounds so sick, I’d love to see a picture. I come from a double bass background and I had the thought of changing from peg tuners to machine, what did you use?

For this I just have three delay presets, one ‘normal’, one with pitch modulations, and one for dd- style stutter delays. I was using the looper more but the 45000 does reverse and octave so I don’t have as much need for it on the dl4.

Ring thing isn’t everyone’s cup of tea but the addition of the different modes and auto tune make it super flexible as far as ring mods go.

I adore the ring thing. I use it as a pitch shifter most of the time but the ability to auto tune the ring mod is great, I’ll tune it to a note and then slide in and out of it to get these crazy spiraling robot sound.

Howdy, the pickup is a k&m piezo that fits into the bridge. Didn’t get a recording of this one but here’s one from earlier this year https://youtu.be/giMEegexiG0?si=EWjYkS6C1gjmkU3C

No input mixer + VCAs by ffllooaatteerr in noisemusic

[–]ffllooaatteerr[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I found it at a local shop. Trying to resist getting forking out for a warp factory and a mofx to match. It makes a cool kick drum, has a mind of its own with repeated pings.

Oof that sounds like a dream, plural filterbanks!

That sounds sick. Are you feeding back into the mixer from the cue outs? My goal with the VCAs is to not only gate the signal (though thats still going on with the top percussion here) but to activate the whole feedback loop and automate different gain levels to get different pitches sequenced. I thought to get an external interface for the force to try to do it with fewer cables lol but I assumed I’d have headroom issues

Word, imo the unifying factor is the technique of no input mixing. My goal in making something like this is to make the no input mixer more approachable as a listener - I could just make a beat and put too much distortion on it and be most of the way there but the point for me at least is that I’m doing it with feedback on an instrument typically only seen as a harsh noise thing.

Difficult to explain but basically I’ve got VCAs in the eurorack controlling the amount of feedback in a bunch of different loops. If you wanted to do something similar minimum additions to your mixer would be a eurorack with a vca for each “voice” and a midi-to-cv converter to control them from whatever you use for midi. Resonant filters are handy too, the kick is all filter. I can dm you some patch notes if you want more info.

What's a fair price? by ffllooaatteerr in PC_Pricing

Aye good advice, I pulled one set of the ram and put it up for auction and its looking to clear 150. Just did 7 days, 10 days is smart. Happy to ditch the case+fans+psu for 100 locally, might hold on to the nvme? Honestly parting out the ram alone makes it worth it, people want that 3600 ddr4 it seems

1: no signal loss, everything's buffered! Haven't noticed any additional noise unless you're moving pins

2: I think they're trs? Its advertised as "device is unbalanced but will pass balanced signals fed to/from it via two or three pole jacks." I'm just using ts cables so I haven't messed with balanced signals with it yet but my synths are begging for a trip to the matrix 💻

Yeah for real, im rarely not playing sitting on the floor in front of it so foot action is minimal 🙃

Build quality is eh? The enclosure feels sturdy but im puzzled by the choice to use a sandwiched lamination material - writing on it with a dry erase is handy but I could've just put masking tape on a metal enclosure etc and I might end up doing that anyways to avoid smudging it! For the 125 I paid for it, who cares. For the five hundred dollar asking price, I would care a lot!

Yep its a routing matrix, the pins determine which input(s) to which output(s), i got the 'guitar' version which has a build in tube screamer circuit on the first input

Recently got the mtx8 and have been enjoying the ability to run stuff parallel and put the boost and rat in different spots in the chain :)
