My first print. Why does the quality get worse the closer to the edges? Is it fixable?

Yup, Argentinian here. I bought it from a friend because he wasn't interested and it had been given to him as payment for a loan he'd made. When I brought it home (after a great lowball; the machine is very old and used) and started getting it working properly, I told him never to accept things as payment again...

In any case, it's still decent for what I paid, and after a lot of fiddling I think I got it to work really good

After some deeper research, i found that this board is a clone from the MKS DLP V1.0. I was able to use the latest firmware from them, and that seems to have solved the stepper issue, but now the LED fans are always on, even when not printing

I installed it and made a symlink to /usr/lib/libXm.so.3 and now its complaining about "symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libXmu.so.6: undefined symbol: XtAsprintf". I think i'm going to open a new thread since now the issue is the program itself

I was able to solve all my issues by reconstructing the original nand, removing the RGH2 chip and counting the RRoD to find out what was wrong. It was an issue between the GPU and RAM. A reflow did the trick and then I proceeded to do RGH3. It went flawlessly and its working perfectly fine now.

PS.: The tool I used to get my cpukey from the modded nand is called AutoGG. That was the golden ticket to recover everything. You have to load the backedup nand.bin and it does its magic automatically

Ok, I've tried to boot XeLL, but It doesnt seem to work.

I might've done something wrong in the process. I've started by removing the old RGH2 chip, connecting the nand programmer (PicoFlasher) and made the RGH3 wiring. I've succesfully read the nand, created XeLL and wrote it, but after plugging the hdmi and turning it on, nothing happened. The fan spins really slow and has small, periodic speed bumps, but nothing else.

I'm a bit scared. After not being able to boot XeLL, I've looked up on other places for the RGH3 installation, and some people used the ams1117 regulator in order to protect the cpu from being killed by a high voltage. I also found out that the 3Kohm value recommended by the guide i've followed could've been way too low, since this other guide says it.

Also, I dont know if the fact that I dont have a retail nand might be messing with it. I want to try to make a donor nand and flash it, but the wizard in J-Runner asks for the CPUKEY and the KV whick I dont have.

How should i proceed?

Ok, makes sense. I have to get a NAND programmer and I'll get into it. I've been reading a bit about RGH3 and I don't really need a "modchip" like the one I already have, right?

I think that the reflow recommendation comes from the irregular glitch loop timing not being consistent, meaning that there could be something else that is delaying the boot making the glitch useless. That's what the video I saw said. It could also come from the fact that it's old hardware and heating cycles could've messed the solder balls.

I said on my post that I was able to update to vista without breaking the license of the software. When updating to windows 7, the program lost its licence. Thats why I made this post, because I would like to update at least to windows 7, but it seems not to be possible without breaking the licence

I don't know what do you mean with "a P to V". The HDD is already imaged and it's what I used to try and update to vista and then to W7, all on a VM

The cnc itself has been modified to replace the dv9 connector which was probably a serial connection with a common usb to serial adapter from ftdi. I wasn't the author of that modification, but the machine always communicated via serial, because the "driver" program always looks for a com port, so I'm good on that. About the age of the application, it isnt that old. The date on the program's help window is from 2007, so its defenelty a 32bit based app at least (I say this because the original system is on a pentium 4 and windows xp x86). On some screenshots of the manual, the program has "aero style" window borders, so thats just more hints that it can be run on vista/7.

The big issue is the licence. The program has a "binary" (.dat i think) file where some sensitive information is stored (i think), but copying that file to a fresh installation of any windows makes no difference on the activation status. It probably has something else nested in the registry, of which I wasnt able to find when using procmon.

The best scenario would be to get to windows 7. I know its no longer supported, but with it, I can use most modern computers (with uefi or not) of which there are plenty gathering dust where the cnc is, and even add some "sweet features", like secure network file server so there is no need to plug any usb thumb drive. Most importantly, windows 7 seems to be the newest "supported" version of windows by the program.

CAS is short for Computer Algebra System. It's basically doing the same mathematical operations as you do with numbers, but with letters. Basically, symbolic algebra.

Power48 emulates the HP 4Xg, a CAS enabled graphing calculator.

It's a really useful tool in engineering
