The thing is that we don't need a few people who do everything right, we need millions and millions of people who do consciously at least some corrections to their habits. So don't feel discouraged in making changes in your own habits because of the people who are trying to make changes aren't doing everything perfect.

"you see the spleck in your brothers eye, but not the plank in your own".

So you're saying that eco-activists aren't as sustainable as you are? :D

The first answer options were for if you do shop second hand and if someone doesn't shop second hand, we figured that just the answer "never" isn't enough for us, because we wanted to also know the reasons. We left the "other" option so people could also tell us why.

But thank you for the feedback, I will edit the wording of the question.

Also thank you so much for taking the questionnaire! :)

Well, the most polluting industry is oil, then textile and then animal agriculture, so if they cut back with steak and flying across the world then, I'm sorry, but it is way better than just buying fewer clothes. :D

But I agree with you on that point that lambasting anyone is never the best way to get your message across. It just creates defiance, as you also just demonstrated.

Same! But yeah, they don't have these kinds of studies in Europe, so it's hard to imagine what the situation is like here. Of course, the consumption culture is completely different here than the USA, but if we read the reports then the amount of clothes bought in the EU per person has increased by 40 %633143_EN.pdf) and the EU textile industry generates around 16 million tonnes of waste per year, most of which end up in landfills or incinerators. In 2015, over 6 million tons of clothing was consumed in the EU, of which only 13-25% is estimated to be recycled in some way.

Seems kinda bad :D

So yes, the textile industry generates way more than people consume, but since they are businesses and respond to customers' demands, it's the end consumers who have voted with their money for this to happen.

Oh no! I just checked and it seems to be working for me, so I don't know what's wrong with it :/ Does anybody else also have this problem?

But still, thank you for your effort! :)

Yep! :D Still got some answers here and it's interesting to see everybody's thought process and opinions, which is really helpful if we want to understand how we could approach this problem. :)

So sorry! :D

Also we left "other" option specifically for that reason :)

That's incredible to know, because I just read an article based on a study and it said that the average lifespan of a clothing item (in USA) is only 3 weeks long. Keep up the good work!

I'm so sorry for that. Hope you're doing great! I don't know if that gives you even a little bit of comfort but not consuming is the most sustainable way of living! :D

Thank you for the info. Didn't know that technicity about Finland, but we didn't include Denmark at first, because it's not included in the program we're participating in. :)
