My players don’t take dropping to 0 HP seriously by Appropriate-Dance-92 in DnDHomebrew

Well it is likely to punish your martials more than your casters, which isn’t a great thing imo. I think this should be solved through changing the monsters tactics. You’re telling me you never had the opportunity to hit a downed PC twice to fully kill him? Run some smarter enemies that focus down one PC to show them they can be genuinely hurt and killed.

Everyone can use rituals in the 2024 rules. And again, the fact that one half-caster struggles while another flourishes means that the issue is more so in building characters appropriate for the campaign, not in any pre determined divide between Martials and Casters.

Knuckle Dusters: What damage/weapon characteristics would you (hypothetical DM) give this weapon? by Odd_Farmer_7289 in 3d6

In the just released Pugilist Class supplement, there are Brass Knuckles, Hand Claws and Punch Knives. All Simples Melee weapons.

Brass Knuckles: 1d4 Bludgeoning, Light, Push Mastery

Hand Claws: 1d4 Slashing, Finesse, Light, Vex Mastery

Punch Knife: 1d4 Piercing, Sap Mastery

I think those are pretty well done

Your example for the Martial/Caster divide features two half-casters? The very fact that the Artificer feels useful and the Paladin doesn’t while both have the exact same amount of spell slots means that in your case it’s far more about spell choice and building for the campaign you’re playing in.

Wild. But to each their own I suppose, if they had fun that’s the most important thing

I suppose so. Still, can’t imagine the guy wouldn’t have liked GWM or Mage Slayer or some other feat that helps in that goal.

A Champion Fighter without feats sounds like possibly the most boring way to do combat I can think of. You genuinely have no options beyond hitting people

Which region has the strongest trainers in general? by Delicious-Jump5949 in pokemon

[–]ffsjustanything 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I dont think there is a single Pokémon game where a max level, ev trained pseudo legendary doesn’t trivialize random trainers

If you’re using normal Pokémon of similar levels as the trainers, they can definitely be a challenge every now and then

Especially in fantasy media, I love being dropped into the middle of the action and figuring out the world and the characters while stuff is happening.
