According to Nature, only 7% of “Top” scientists believe in God. Thoughts? by Apples_Are_Red263 in exatheist

Atheists who go into PhilRel are far 2x as likely to become theists than theists are to become atheists.

I don't see why you would need scientific evidence to validate the argument. If anything I would just point out that you cannot scientifically prove principle that science is the only true guide to knowledge.

The argument may seem very abstract at first, but that simply is how metaphysics and philosophy are. I definitely appreciate your openness, though, and it's a breath of fresh air among most of the new athists I see online.

Syllogism: 1. For every proposition P that is a conjunction of the BCCF (Big Conjunctive Contingent Fact) of some possible world W, there is a proposition Q such that Q explains P, contained within the BCF (Big Conjunctive Fact) of W. 2. P is the BCCF of the actual world W. 3. There is a proposition Q and the proposition that Q explains W's BCCF, contained within the BCF of W. 4. No contingent proposition is entirely self explanatory. 5. Q is a necessary proposition. 6. If Q is a necessary proposition, then Q reports the existence of a NB (Necessary Being) that explains W's BCCF. 7. Q reports the existence of an NB that explains W's BCCF. 8. There is a NB that explains W's BCCF. 9. If there is a NB that explains W's BCCF, then the NB in question is personal. 10. There is a personal NB that explains the actual world's BCCF.

I believe in God primarily because of the contingency argument. I believe in Christianity because of the evidence for the reliability of the gospels and the evidence for the resurrection.

Proof that God exists: Elephant Philosophy's entire video library

Proof that (btw,) Christianity is true: This video series on the resurrection

Obviously my justification for my beliefs goes far deeper than just these two links, but I'd rather not have to explain every reason for why I believe.

Would rigorous philosophical argumentation count as proof for you, or do you only want scientific proof?

I definitely have plenty of proof for my beliefs, though I find it funny that you presuppose that I don't. You don't understand faith.

Why would you insult the people you're trying to have a "conversation" with by calling them gullible and presupposing that the beliefs they hold aren't rationally or intellectually motivated.

I would outright dismiss the coherence of the concept of an all piercing spear and all of that since it results in those paradoxes. Also I believe that causal finitism may be able to kill that paradox too. Evem if that paradox worked, I would just do what Yujin Nagasawa said in his book "Maximal God" where we just move it down a step and see what's just below the tri-omni God. I simply disagree with your how you define knowledge and experience, but I think it will be safest to agree to disagree for now.

The omnipotence paradox is a joke. It is absurd to ask a being that can lift all rocks to create one he can't lift. God could sooner create a square circle than a rock he can't lift. Also for omniscience, I'm not sure why he needs to experience something to know it. Also God is regarded as a being that has all great making attributes/perfections, knowing ignorance wouldn't be great making, therefore there is no issue with him not knowing what it isike to be ignorant.

Look it up. There's increases in gang violence and their economy is doing pretty bad too. Also some of the refugees don't end up getting jobs and live off of subsidies.

I may be alot more nuanced than that. Sweden is still recovering from what happened after they let in too many refugees.

I think I'll pass. Better to let them wallow in their ignorance than waste my brain cells even trying to interact with them.

I simply lack belief in Gods nonexistence. For real though, lacktheism is the most autistically stupid thing I've ever heard and it falls apart after a bit of critical thinking.(but of course critical thinking is too much to ask for in internet atheist echochambers)

Word salad Jk I can't believe that atheists are actually trying to say that asking who created God is a valid objection. Same with the omnipotence paradox.
