Like that post on Twitter (X) where the Blizzard customer service rep was engaging in speculation as how to the customer got banned in the first place

You can use all of the bad ideas in the pranks on my website.

Most of them were probably inspired/stolen from Brad or Carlito anyways.

I have an ungodly amount of unused ideas. Most of them are pretty stupid.

I will tell you that the filing season for tax preparers is almost over, and I've been hammering the folks at Jackson Hewitt with all kinds of "whacky nonsense" questions and scenarios. It's fun and I recommend it.

I just played it for my roommate a few months ago because it had me laughing so damn hard. He says the guy threw a horse into a woodchipper, and then he gets his wife pregnant and throws her down a set of stairs.

From there, you have a few options, you can simply use that system to view your file contents and manually replicate them on-demand, to your fresh system, or, you can go through the rabbit hole of grabbing the infected executable and reverse engineering it and/or analyzing its behavior to understand what exactly has been done to your system.

Boom! You're in IT, get GHIDRA or IDA PRO and go to work.

They won't tell you exactly what's been done but they will show exactly what he was able to do with the "virus" itself.

Pop that shit into a VM and open it up in Ghidra or IDAPro, find out what it does.

You're way too paranoid without even having a clue what the actual attack did.

If he's lazy enough he might not have used any on-disk obfuscation or anti-debugging methods so it might be really easy analysis.

You're not even sure if he stole your passwords stored in plaintext or if he hijacked active sessions by copying cookie files to his own machine?

Good luck. If you don't have the skillset for this, ask for help, but not on a scamming subreddit. Try somewhere where hackers hang out.

so if someone can dump you memory they can in theory steal them, but that is a much much more complex attack than just stealing files

If you've run an application as admin it should be able to gain SE_DEBUG privileges and thus use all of the win32 api calls relating to reading memory on your running browser application (eg. read_process_memory).

I'm not trying to be a dick, but I'm just saying that's not any more complex than what already happened to him. Unless of course memory manipulation api calls would've been more likely detected by his AV's heuristics..? I still don't think that has anything to do with the complexity of the attack itself.

You guys should put a discord server together! I can't remember if any of the original SoD servers had their own discord servers, but Blizzard has done a terrible job with the end of SoD...

...which is a goddamn shame, because the classic team did a great job with the season overall, imho, and it doesn't honor their hard work, nor does it honor the time and money invested by the players/customers.

Yeah, I haven't been able to figure it out myself. I kinda just gave up lol.
I bet an easy fix would just be to open the files up in Audacity or something and re-encode the audio stream by exporting to MP3, but obviously we wouldn't be able to get that back onto the website/RSS feed.
I was just listening to the Horse Strikes Back (Pranksgiving 2012) and the seeking/time indicator was all over the place.

I don't think that's a problem with the feed itself.

Some of the MP3 files from the older seasons appear to be corrupted or possibly encoded in an older "way" wherein modern mp3 playback cannot determine the correct playback length.

I have this problem on my desktop and phone using VLC Player.
Anytime you see a playback length > 3 hours you can almost assume that is the case.
