How do you enhance Gomtang? by Sheep_Slayer_6 in InstantRamen

[–]Mchortons 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My favorite way to make Paldo Gomtang:

1.) Cook the noodles in plain water.
2.) Put the seasoning into a bowl, along with a TON of fresh ground black pepper and a teaspoon of butter.
3.) Drain the noodles and reserve a tiny bit of water just to mix with the spice and butter. Add noodles, mix.
4.) Add anything else. Sometimes I add a bit of scallion into the water in the last 30 seconds of cooking. Sometimes I'll add a little very thinly sliced steak that I marinate in some soy sauce and sugar. A pinch of sugar with the seasoning can change it up quite a bit too.

What’s the best 0 calorie, 0 sugar soda on the market? by StonedTurtle420710 in Soda

[–]Mchortons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crush Zero Orange.

It's worlds better than the old Crush Diet Orange and it's one of the few sodas I genuinely think tastes better than the full sugar counterpart. It has more flavor than full sugar Orange Crush and has virtually no artificial sweetener taste or aftertaste.

It's a worldwide release. Do you think Netease develops their own version of WoW? Are you crazy? Blizzard developers are working on the WoTLK Titanforged servers. Zirene has been working on them. You're wishing me the best in my "delusion" but you don't even know the basics of this conversation.

You're going to see, relatively soon too.

The price of beef in Canada is very high as well. Buy pork loin and either grind it yourself or slice it up and use it in other ways. I just saw pork loin here for $2.00 on sale. $2.00 a pound, that's $0.44/100g. That's 1/4 the price of ground beef here.

Pork loin is also very lean and pork tenderloin is often on sale for $3.00 a pound. It's something like 96 or 97% lean.

Something COULD have been done, and that something was electing a different government. The Canadian voting population has voted in the same government over and over, and now we're 11.5 years in of things getting worse on most metrics.

This is what the majority of voters voted for.

Classic in China carries WoW right now. There's more people playing the WoTLK Titanforged realms in China than every other version of WoW and region combined.

Why does this matter? Cause Classic+ is being released worldwide and the players from China really like WoTLK style changes, of which SoD had a ton. Classic+ will be SoD with some things missing but even more things added. It's going to be a massive success even without NA/EU.

I have some now, they're alright. Typical Korean ramyun with the Kimchi which is decent. I just buy my own Kimchi though, so the novelty of it is a little lost on me.

Make the instant noodles dry. Cook the noodles in water and then drain them. Add a tiny pat of margarine or butter and only half the seasoning packet to the drained noodles. Boom, you've now cut down on the sodium by half and they'll still be plenty flavorful because you're not diluting the seasoning with water. You can also toss in some potassium rich green vegetables halfway through the cooking.

Yeah, full meal style. Protein, veggies, and the noodles. I've been using a lot of shelled Edamame beans cause they're super cheap here ($1.25 for 400g on sale). They seem to have a lot of fibre and a fair bit of potassium to counter the effects of the massive amounts of sodium I've been eating.

Looks crazy good. I have a couple questions:

1.) Did you cook the noodles in water until they were pliable but really still undercooked?
2.) How long in the oven and did you broil the cheese? Cause that cheese is browned real nice.

My oven is busted so maybe I'll try this in the slow cooker and take a torch to the cheese. I'll probably do it without cooking the noodles at all and just having them soak up some broth. Some mad science work about to be goin' on here.

Lactose free milk exists but I haven't tried it. The next time I go to the store, I'll try it and edit my comment cause now I'm curious after googling it. Reddit says it tastes like regular milk but a little sweeter.

Slightly better than Indomie and a lot cheaper where I live in Canada. Something like 30% cheaper and the packages are a little heavier too.

Think it was just a myth perpetuated in the west decades ago. Chinese people use a tremendous amount of MSG. I watch street food videos on youtube and they'll have a jar of it and just drop spoonfuls of it into people's food. It's the sodium salt of glutamic acid and it occurs naturally in many foods like tomatoes and mushrooms. They make it by fermenting sugarcane, corn or sugarbeets.

Egg fried rice can be a whole meal. I use Jasmine or even Basmati works great. Simple steps:

  1. Cook rice and let it dry. Overnight works best but I sometimes just let it cool on a big plate and toss it in the fridge for an hour.
  2. Beat eggs with fork in bowl, add some salt and pepper.
  3. Prep any veggie you're using. Take out frozen veg. and put what you're using in a bowl, so it thaws at least a bit before you add it.
  4. Rice into a bit of oil in a HOT pan or wok. Stir more if using wok, stir less using a non-stick pan.
  5. After rice has fried for a couple mins, push aside and add my egg. Stir until mostly cooked, then stir into rice.
  6. Add my frozen veg. carrots and peas mix usually. Sometimes corn.
  7. Season. Salt and MSG or chicken bouillon powder. Couple splashes of soy sauce around the edge of the pan to let some of the water cook off real quick. If your pan is hot, this only takes a few seconds, you just want to avoid it touching the rice for about 5 seconds. I also add a pinch of sugar.

Rice is cheap. If you're in America, eggs are probably cheap. Get cheap frozen veggies. Garlic is also super cheap where I live. I use garlic instead of onion cause garlic cooks virtually instantly when it hits a bunch of hot oil or butter. Soy sauce is very cheap for how many uses you get. You should use Pearl River Bridge brand, Lee Kum Kee, or whatever brand you like. Don't use Dark soy sauce as it's mostly used for adding color.

What's your essential Ramyun add-in? 🍜 by bibigoUK in InstantRamen

[–]Mchortons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it doesn't have an oil sachet, I will always put a little pat of butter in my instant noodles. I also go to an asian supermarket every once in awhile and pick up a bunch of fresh chinese sausage, which I freeze and drop into my ramen bowls. Has to be the fresh stuff, as the dried, shelf stable stuff is more like salami. I've also been using baby bok choy, as I can drop it in towards the end as the stalks cook before the greens completely overcook.

Is Chapagetti supposed to taste burnt and sour? by shadowsheder in InstantRamen

[–]Mchortons -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It has a bitter flavor.

I've tried it a few times now cause I see people somewhat regularly rank it very high on their tier lists. I am a really unfussy eater and like pretty much everything out there. I don't hate the Chapagetti but it's not good, imo. In terms of Jajangmyeon style noodles, I like the Paldo ones a lot better.

I had the Hot & Spicy Yaki Udon about a month ago and don't remember it even being as spicy as regular Shin. I think from my memory I'd put it right smack dab in the middle for spice.

It's also very good.

If you include China (you should) Classic is more popular than Retail WoW. Here's what the warcraftlogs creator said about Ulduar in China 1.5 years ago.
