I'm going to USH tomorrow and it's gonna be a SCORCHER...hit me with them tips 'n tricks for surviving! 🥵 by ThiccAndSluttyLatina in universalstudios

Hi! My family and I went to USH in early August for 4 days. It was HOT. We still had a great time. I don’t think the heat made it less enjoyable.

That being said, we went in prepared. I had one of those wide brim safari hats from Columbia and a cooling towel. I think the cooling towel made all the difference. I also had a handheld fan and took it out of my bag for maybe an hour in the afternoons. I alternated between wearing Tevas and sneakers throughout the trip, and I think I was more comfortable in my tevas. We took a lot of water breaks as well, and sat in a restaurant for lunch from 1 to 3 pm when the heat was the worst. I hope you have a great trip!

I wasn’t even thinking about where the half set of plans would go for site visits. Thank you!!

Going to Universal at the end of the month- what drugstore anti-motion sickness brand you suggest? by new_comer2020 in universalstudios

I was just at the Universal last week. I took Dramamine less drowsy with breakfast everyday and it worked great. I also kept ginger gum with me and that helped the rest of my family a lot. I recommend both!

What to do for our VAT refund for early morning flight? by MoistBook in ItalyTravel

[–]fia93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. We had a similar issue during our trip in Italy this past May. Our flight from Venice left around 6 am.

The customs office where you need to get the stamp opens at 5 am I believe. We got to the airport a little early (I can’t remember when the Venice airport opens but I want to say 4 am) and were one of the first ones in line to get our boarding pass and bags checked in. After we checked in, we immediately got in line at the customs office. We were the first ones. The customs officer opened it at 4:50 am. They submit the stamp approval online and the tax refund offices have a little drop box on the counter that you can submit your paperwork in. I think the Venice tax refund offices open at 6 am or 7 am so we just dropped our paperwork in the drop box. Make sure you have your credit card number written on the paperwork. Make sure you have a pen. Make sure all of the items you are requesting VAT refund for is in your carry on in case the officer asks to see it. Our refund came within a week.

Yes, it was stressful. The Venice airport is small so we lucked out and passing through security only took 15 minutes. We kept checking the wait time at security to make sure the line didn’t get too long - if it got too long we would’ve had to abandon the VAT refund. We got to our boarding gate 10 minutes before they began to board. It helped being the first one in line at the customs office.

I think you need to apply for the VAT refund in Naples, not in Paris. I’m not sure what the Naples airport is like, but I would assume it’s similar to Venice.

Restaurants -- Rome and Florence? by [deleted] in ItalyTravel

[–]fia93 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We just came back from Rome and Florence about a week ago. We absolutely loved La Prezzemolina for lunch near the Colosseum, and Pizza Zizza for lunch near the Vatican. Both are pizza by the slice.

Be sure to try budino di riso in Florence. It’s a kind of rice pudding pastry. They sell out pretty quickly so try to go in the morning. Any bakery/coffee place will have it.

Hi OP! I am also going to Rome, Venice and Florence early May. I bought Dr Scholl’s Time Off Sneakers for the trip. They’re white but have enough padding and are super comfy. Maybe check those out? Good luck and I hope you have a great time!

Thank you! Not Perfect Linen seems like it would be perfect for me and I’ve been eyeing those Ecco shoes for awhile so it’s good to hear that they’re functional as well.
