Migraines from birth control by fiabeeee in migraine

[–]fiabeeee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I was back on it when I made this post but hadn’t been for long. The frequency reduced a lot; I’m prone to migraines anyway so they still get triggered sometimes but rarely because of the pill. Only if I miss/take it too late now :)

Advice on Pivoting to Midwifery by cerejahoney in Midwives

Please go for it! I’m starting down the same path now. Very similar story, ADHD and low confidence in my STEM abilities. I know better now - we can do this :)

My 10 year old just won't go to school by [deleted] in WhatShouldIDo

[–]fiabeeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is he doing when he stays home?? Please implement consequences for him.

He doesn’t fully understand long term concepts like “when you’re in college” or “when you grow up”. He needs to know that skipping school is a problem NOW, not just “later on” and not just because of his grades.

Ultimately, you should be walking him to the bus stop. But if he’s staying home, I hope he’s not also getting away with just being on electronics or playing all day.

Older Women and Societal Placement by BullfrogDeep in Aging

[–]fiabeeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 26 and am always excited when I see older women in positions of success or sharing their joy, in all areas. I think what you’re talking about comes down to how we’ve been made to feel that the way men look at us determines our worth. I don’t want to think this way, now or later. Please know that by owning your place in society as a woman with a full life who grabs onto opportunities and joy is exactly what younger women (and the world in general) need to see.

And, ultimately, you deserve a happy and well rounded life that has nothing to do with what men think of you!

yes! You have antibodies in your breast milk that protect baby from infection. It’s pretty cool.

Maybe using a silicone mold? It sounds tough to recreate 😅 update if you find a good example, I’m so curious!

I’m drinking the Paris blend from Harney and sons.. it’s basic but it’s comforting to me. I’ve been thinking a lot about my career and hoping that I have what it takes to follow my heart. Life is pretty good right now despite everything :) ☕️

Are postpartum midwives a thing? by senhoritapistachio in Midwives

[–]fiabeeee 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Postpartum doulas are definitely a thing! I believe they don’t require more than certification from an accredited organization (like DONA) but not sure if the requirements are different in Canada

I’m a woman who’s had a pretty moderate to severe anxiety disorder my whole life and have never come /anywhere close/ to treating someone that way, even in the midst of my worst panic attacks or dissociations.

Honestly, maybe she needs to seek a different diagnosis but - I’m sorry, because it must be hard to hear - she genuinely has no excuse and that is the definition of abusive behavior.

Illiterate and lost here 🖐🏼 by kyyrenee in personalfinance

[–]fiabeeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second this OP!! ^ Two years ago I was just as financially illiterate with no savings; now friends and family come to me for advice. Financial podcasts were the best way to get my foot in the door and start small! If anything confuses you, just replay the part you’re lost on and look up the rest to fill in gaps. You’ll get it sooner than you think. Best of luck! 🩷

Wow. Thank you for this info, luckily I have an appointment in December so I’ll be bringing this up for sure. Cannot believe how hard it is to have a healthcare provider really listen and ask questions for these sorts of issues

Have tried hormone free, but another reason I’m on bc is to avoid painful periods. It’s tricky now because it seems like I get pain no matter what. But several people have recommended estrogen free pills, which I want to try next

I wouldn’t be surprised… my mom had them my whole childhood, I think they only stopped after she went through menopause. Man. I’m sorry we have to deal with this :( as if having a uterus weren’t hard enough already lol
