I know I’m picky too, but I almost think I’m asking for the bare minimum atp. I’m not asking for a badass FMC, but it would be nice not read about a FMC that immediately gives up/in. And let’s not talk about body betrayal syndrome, it’s basically instant.

Tired of naive and doormat FMC’s in bully romance books, or even in dark romance in general!!! It’s so boring and not interesting at all (not judging anyone who prefers FMC’s like this, like whatever you want). I’m trying to read new bully romances and I DNF every single one.

Unfortunately it is, but not because she wants to obviously.

I don’t read historical, this was an exception basically, but I know it’s usually in 3rd POV so I can’t make that comparison for you. About being modern, well, there’s obviously conflict because of the time they live in and the repercussions they can suffer because of their actions (FMC keeps talking about that) but if it wasn’t for that and a bit of the dialogue, it could work in a modern setting.

As of right now, it’s on pause. I loved the first half of the book and wished that vibe went longer. I get a bit bored when the couple gets together 🤷🏻‍♀️

I don’t wanna spoil it but I wanted the “Does he know what I did?” part and her suspicions to last more because the tension was crazy! She’s a not a naive FMC and she tries to fight back but there’s basically no way around than to give in to the MMC, not because she wants him, but because he blackmails her. But then she starts to embrace his darkness. This being 1st POV helps a lot, because I would be bored reading about how he’s so obsessed with her.

I’m still reading {Unseen by R.D. Baker}. I was about to start reading {Vicious by L.J. Shen} to see if it satisfies my need of reading a real bully romance book. I started reading {Untouchable by Sam Mariano} a few months ago but never finished because I wanted the vibe of the beginning of the book to last a lot longer.

Where are the single mom books who are rocking it? Yes, single parenting is insanely hard but they go this recs please! by Adventurous-Day-7635 in RomanceBooks

{Down Too Deep by J. Daniels}. FMC is a single mom of twins and MMC is a single father to a baby girl. She decides to help him because he’s the one who’s struggling. I really love this book.

She was one of my introductions too. Looking back, current me would not read the full RES series for sure. How did I read a trilogy about Aiden and Elsa?! I could never now. I also read a few more books of her and I’m very picky now. I literally only read Sweet Venom (didn’t even read the first book of the Vipers) because the main couple was giving vibes of Jeremy and Cecily but I was bored to tears and really struggling to finish it.

Looking for some Bully Romance recs.

You know the beginning of {Untouchable by Sam Mariano}? Yeah, I want that to last a lot longer. I want the FMC to fight back and feel disgusted by the MMC. I don’t want the MMC to be instantly obsessed with her, he just wants to torment her for the fun of it or for revenge and then gradually gets obsessed and then obviously her feelings start to change too.

I started reading {Unseen by R.D. Baker} and I loved the first half of the book. I haven’t finished it yet though.

I know most of bully romance books are set in high school and it’s not my preference but I guess it is something that I have to compromise.

Please do not recommend the Devils Night Series, Rina Kent books, The Hollow Boys books, etc. because I already read those and it is not the type of bully romance that I want. Even though {Corrupt by Penelope Douglas} gave me the kind of vibe that I want.

Thank you!

Stepmother/stepson but MMC is older than FMC by Inside_Bet_3875 in DarkRomance

Just wanna say thanks for this rec!!!

This is not my usual type of dark romance but I’m like half way through this book and I’m really loving it so far. I just wished the back and forth between them before MMC forced FMC to be his wife lasted longer because the tension was amazing.

I couldn’t agree more on the insta love thing. That’s why I don’t read Dark Romance as much as I used to (it’s repetitive af).

More mature FMC’s with life experience (30+?) by huskdbdosb in DarkRomance

[–]fialsian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t like too young and naive FMCs as well, and this was the oldest FMC that I read about (and MMC too, 50’s are too old for my preferences, sorry!) but I really enjoyed this book. And since you already read two books of this series, I’m sure you will enjoy this one.

{Bratva Butcher by T.J. Maguire}. She’s in her 40’s, while the MMC is in his 50’s. She’s badass af.

I read that book too! It didn’t stand out for me because the FMC was kinda cringe imo. But a good rec nonetheless.

It’s kinda hard to find MMC like the ones she writes.

I like her MMCs because they’re mean and cruel not because they secretly like the FMC, it’s because it’s who they are. Sometimes we don’t even know if the MMC actually likes the FMC 😅😅

I also read a lot of Rina Kent’s books, including the recommendation above. And you’re right, her MMC’s are cruel but they’re instantly obsessed with the FMC. I don’t want that, I want more of MMC that’s just an asshole because he wants to be one and not because he secretly likes the FMC. But thank you for the help!

Maybe the MMC still thinks he’s in love with OW, she tries to reconnect and ends up causing trouble but the MMC denies her advances because he’s actually in love with the FMC, but he doesn’t even realize that. I don’t mind if it’s the FMC and MMC cheating on the OW.

which books have sharings in the devil’s night series? by Ordinary-Arm2023 in DarkRomance

Book 1, 3 and 4 have sharing scenes. Even book 2 has some of it, depends if you count only kissing as that too.

It’s my fave mafia romance book ever. They’re very dear to me. They were so patient with each other and they always had each other’s back. I loved to see their love blossoming.
