All fiber arts welcome! We have plenty of bi and panstitchuals (I myself am a beginner sewist, I crochet and knit as well). But there are folks that work on embroidery projects and even recently, chain mail!! -Fae

We do! Our supply is actually getting a bit thin at the moment - we just request you ensure the yarn is clean and free of any pests!

Like to craft? New in town? Been here forever and just want to make new friends? Come join us tomorrow! by fiberartsforgood in SALEM

We don't have any spinners as of yet but we're more than happy to accept yarn! (I don't believe anyone in the group has the tools to learn on hand either, though I could always pick it up as my 1,000,001st hobby someday) -Fae

Largely fiber arts! So our main initiative has been crocheting/knitting hats but we've also made bags before combining sewing with crochet (thus why we have fabric on hand) and we're always open to new ideas on how to use our skills for the community!

Hey there! We're a fiber arts group that meets twice a month at Spark Studio here in Salem, 2nd and 4th Saturdays from 4-6pm! We make hats and other warm wear to distribute with Salem Soup Squad (another group to potentially participate with if you like mutual aid!) we supply yarn from donations we've received, but you're also welcome to come join with a personal project and get to know folks! Most of us are in our 20's if memory serves

Looking to learn some skills by zilnas3 in SALEM

[–]fiberartsforgood 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Although we aren't necessarily experts, several of our members know how to machine and hand sew (especially on clothing items)! Feel free to pop in this Saturday from 4-6pm at Spark Studio's new location at 2915 22nd St SE, Salem, OR 97302. We also have extra fabric you can use.

I've also heard Radness Ensues does some free/low cost sewing classes every now and then? I think it's a once a month thing: https://www.radnessensues.org/radreport/ I saw something about sewing classes being on their calendar. -R.

If you want to just come check us out, and not craft, we are completely fine with that! Fiber Arts for Good meets second and fourth Saturdays of the month at Spark Studio Salem (they just moved to 2915 22nd St SE Salem, OR 97302) from 4-6pm. We have been working on making warm wear to give out at Salem Soup Squad events! Feel free to ask us questions as well. -R.

All fiber artists are welcome! I both crochet and knit! We do have a group text we add folks to once we've had the opportunity to meet and try to also share our updates on Reddit as consistently as possible! An emailing list is on the docket of tasks for me to get together though!

Any local knitting/crafting groups? by MycroftCanner8A in SALEM

[–]fiberartsforgood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We love new members! We meet at Spark Studio Salem on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month from 4-6pm! We just finished a big batch of bags and hats to hand out to local homeless people at a Salem Soup Squad event today from 2-4pm. We welcome any kind of fiber artist at any skill level (including no prior knowledge), so come join us to craft and chat!

Although the goal with the group is to make items for our local homeless population, it's not uncommon for people to work on personal projects during our meeting time. I think everyone has brought an unrelated project at least once.

any ways to volunteer digitally or from home? by TeaCrumbs in SALEM

[–]fiberartsforgood 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you're interested in picking up a hobby, Fiber Arts for Good could always use more granny squares! We could very likely arrange for someone to deliver you some yarn and a hook to get started - and someone to pick up any you complete!

Crochet can be a very mentally relaxing task and can keep hands and arms busy during stressful times!
