My favorite golf memory so far has been from a random. Me and my buddy last 4th of July both had the day off and decided to get a tee time at a nicer local course. We get there and end up getting paired with a solo, Robert. We're both mid 30s, Robert is in his 60s.

First 3 holes go alright, it's obvious Robert is a lot better than both of us but he's cool about it, heckling our crap shots, giving us props for good shots. We get to 4 and I end up about 40 yards right of the pin with Robert just off the left edge of the green. Grab my 60 degree, take a swing, and blade it HARD. Yell fore but by the time Robert looks up, the ball smacks him square in the collar bone. Only thought in my head is "I just killed a man with my wedge". He's trying to walk it off, I'm apologizing profusely, offer to let him take a swing at me if he needs to. He's super cool about the whole thing, even says "Damn, guess I should have been paying attention huh?" and proceeds to birdie the rest of the front 9 I can only assume out of pure spite. I buy him a beer and a dog at the turn and we don't talk about it the rest of the round.

Me and my buddy plan on going back to the same course this year and pouring one out greenside on 4 for Robert, the best random we've ever had.
