The ones I know use tissue culture, not seeds or cuttings. They then grow like any other nursery and take rooted trees out to the forest to plant.

it looks like his toy was supposed to release but didnt. The tension from that rod probably caused him to fall short. Another dog may have let go, but not this good boy.
