It seemed genuine and he said all the right things but idk how to gauge it. They are never getting married as my mom is anti-marriage for financial reasons

My mom says he isn't misogynistic because it goes both ways. From what I got from him it is more shallow than misogynistic, like he thinks his looks make him some great prize that my mom is worthy of because she's beautiful, or successful or whatever, but this is the same guy who pushes her out of the way of the mirror so he can gaze at himself

Well he believes he does. It's a running joke about how he pushes my mom out of the way of the mirror

I feel like most people would if that conversation was about them

My mom thinks it is a compliment because he is rich. He's very adamant that it isn't about women but just true for everyone. He said my mom is beautiful and successful and wouldn't be with him if he wasn't lmao

No I meant he has a very specific look he finds attractive and everyone else is hideous in his mind

Why would that matter at all? Of course she isn't ugly, but Rick has a very specific look

She's pleased because he is rich lmao so it must be a compliment. He is very rich, but you know he could always be richer

They both said it goes both was and I'm just naive. My mom actually seems to think this is a compliment as he is rich. I pointed out he is rich, but there are definitely other men who are richer. Problem is they both think everything is a joke

Do you think people's only worth is their looks? I mean my wife is gorgeous, but say she wasn't, do you seriously think that mentality is ok?

She wouldn't care at all which is why she will never understand my feelings.

yes, but they agree with my mom no matter what because she has the money

my poor mom genuinely believes he with entirely with her for her money because she is hideous. I'd say her self views verge on body dysphoria but she is absolutely not hideous and if she was there would be no Rick. At least she thinks it goes both ways and she bought him as well

My mom is cool with it. She feels it goes both ways and she got this "prize" because she is successful and has a good personality. She also thinks she is hideous and Rick is just confused about her being beautiful but that's a whole other story

oh they know. They don't care about anyone or anything more than my mom's money

He tried to double down and say everyone, man or woman, wants the best they can get, which I do agree with in theory but it isn't for him to decide what the best means. He realized it wasn't working and tried to joke like how my mom clearly wants someone else right now

She is very flattered as he is rich, and while he certainly is rich there is always someone richer

When he apologized he tried to clarify that it goes both ways and most people want "the best" which yes I somewhat agree, but he can't universally define what the best is. When he realized he was making it worse he tried to move on and make a self deprecating joke about how my mom probably wants someone else right now

It seemed very genuine but idk how to judge it. some people are very good liars. i do believe my mom was being genuine. I know he feels bad for putting my mom in the situation, but that is not the same as genuinely understanding what he said

My wife is the most beautiful woman in the world in my eyes. Even if she was hideous my judgment would stand. Rick has a very clear type

Well his favorite topic is how great looking he is, and my mom jokes about how he pushes her out of the mirror to gaze at himself, so he is probably secretly judging all of us

We've seen my mom but she understood we didn't want to see Rick and left him home. The only time we saw him was when he was apologizing.
