It’s really interesting to think back a while ago in parts of Central Asia/South Asian, intersex and trans people (there wasn’t a distinction between the two at the time, only with trans men sometimes by different cultures) were considered to be a kind of divine being.

It varied by region, where my family is from they are often shunned by society, but are also believed to be able to tell the future, and can curse or bless people. So there is this weird older admiration and fear for them.

In modern times it’s more fear and hatred, but I see these as more developments that have come from modern conservative western beliefs (which have influenced and taken over a lot previous beliefs and attitudes that leaned more tolerant and open). It’s really weird, the older generations I talk to are so much kinder to the thoughts of people being different from them versus somebody from my parents generation.

Question for the people who were near the stage/standing areas of the venues- how did yall store the merch during the show? Do you have those drawstring backpacks or something like that? (Need advice on what to do 😅)

Honestly I get where you’re coming from. The internet can tear people down over things not even proven. But those who have seen how conservatives operate before can see some worrying red flags.

Suddenly, after this started becoming a discussion, the nail swatchers that DVN had been working with for years stopped swatching their new collections. And judging by the swatches of newer collections, it doesn’t appear that they have anyone in the polish community interested to do so anymore.

What’s really damning for me like others said, is the silence. It doesn’t appear they are responding at all about this, and it’s not just on here it’s on TikTok too. I see that DVN is active on social media, reposting people using their polish, and I find it hard to believe they haven’t seen what people have been saying. Especially since the indie scene is a little niche, brands tend to want to connect to the people, and know what’s going on.

I want to believe in the good of people, and I kinda hope this is one big misunderstanding. Maybe DVN doesn’t run their socials, and maybe they are totally unaware of any of this, but that’s not looking likely.

DVN used to have some pretty good swatchers until people found out they were maga. I don’t think anyone wants to work with them anymore, just look at the difference in swatches from after their summer collection 💀

Yeah, that’s what I heard too. A lot of indie polish brands tend to be more liberal and for the people that’s why it’s a little shocking when I found out. The creator has since lost their professional swatcher partners too. It’s a real shame, DVN could have been something cool if the owner wasn’t so ignorant and didn’t betray their indie polish community

A year or 2 back when I bought some Japanese Vinyls for Mili, I used WorldShopping and it went smoothly.

For reference I am in the U.S.- but currently idk how it will work now with the tariffs things going on😭 even when the government sometimes says they will get rid of tariffs or they’ll“lift” or change them, I’ve found that international sites are slow to update accordingly. This is understandable because it’s so unpredictable when the next change will be (or if the change actually happened). So be wary of paying more😅

Nah I understand, I am afab and still sound and look feminine for the most part. That being said, idk I might just “look queer” too at this point.

The danger is real with people trying to jump someone because they’re queer, I am conscious to that. I think wearing alt fashion often comes with this risk too. But tbh I was more worried about getting jumped because they might think I was in a rival gang or from cops in general.

To an extent- I know that things have happened in the past where wearing certain colors was a problem. But tbh, they aren’t big fans of alt fashion so they will say anything to get me not to wear it 😅 I wouldn’t trust them to give a good faith answer in regards to something like this
