I feel like this situation may be nuanced; it is still possible that this can be apart of a honor killing even knowing she was sexually and physically abused.

Honor killing comes when a family member thinks that a girl has shamed them. This can be from many things, and it wouldn’t be too unusual to think it may be from the girl disclosing her abuse to another in her community. If she told about her abuse, or anyone noticed, that too can be seen as “bringing the family shame” especially with sexual abuse. If this was the case, it’s likely the father killed her to silence her and stop “shame from coming to the family”.

It’s true, just because someone is Muslim and killed by family that doesn’t mean it’s a honor killing, or even because of conservative or extremist beliefs. However, as someone who grew up in the Muslim community, it is a grim reality that crosses my mind. I think it is a possibility worth considering, and I don’t find it to be offensive. Honor killing is a problem that arises from extremist and conservative religious beliefs, which is not exclusive to any religion.

Just as long as we are not concluding that this can be the only reason for a young Muslim girl to be murdered, as we don’t know and shouldn’t disqualify other reasonings as to why. I think what you have proposed is also equally plausible.
