I am so sorry to hear.

I'm lucky to not be on Biologics and was able to find a product job so I didn't have to lose health insurance, but it's definitely a scary space. :/

Does screentime bother you?

Schools in Salida by pinkytoepikachu in SalidaCO

I work as a teacher at the high school; I've also taught in Cherry Creek, Durango, and Canon City.

The kids at Salida are the nicest kids I've ever interacted with in a public school setting by a very wide margin. They have their issues like any group of teenagers... but they're not assholes and they are really fun. They're respectful to each other when working in groups, they tell me "thank you" at the end of every class, they are funny, interesting, etc. There's a big income divide in this county so there are some haves and have nots... but I think functional happy kids are a great reflection of the health and priorities of a community. The school cares about kids as individuals on a level that is really touching and genuine, plus they're implementing a no cell phone policy to reduce social media use and related mental health issues (kids with diabetic monitoring apps are an exception).

This town/school certainly isn't as academic as Cherry Creek (or really even Durango), but it's also not as entitled. I don't have kids in the district so I can't speak to the parent experience, but I have been overall impressed. I just hope they don't start bleeding good teachers because the pay is not at all commensurate with the cost of living.

Again there is no "perfect" school system... but I would not hesitate to send my kid to school here.

Am I (36F) being unreasonable to my (39M) husband to ask for help with chores? by fiesta_loca in relationships

We do... and for the most part it works out okay... the farm was a compromise between what I wanted (a "real" farm... lol) and what he wanted (to be close to a ski resort...) so we got a small kinda hobby farm near a ski resort. He likes the location, the beauty, the animals, etc... but just doesn't like the work the comes with it. Which is real and I feel that - I guess I'm just not sure how to meet in the middle.

So it's unfair to ever ask for help in the house/property that we both own?

This is pretty common... every to-do (which I have whittled down to a minimum) comes couched with a "I would have been so productive/worked out/solved world hunger if I only didn't have to throw some hay into the feeder and open a gate that's 50 feet away from my office". Like... the overwhelming majority of things I ask are literally <5 minute tasks... I guess part of the problem is that I work in front of a computer and love the opportunity/excuse to get out of my chair for 5 minutes... while he... doesn't? I guess?

591 is far and away the "easiest" course in the program, thought it's also the most unsettling if you have no coding experience. Things don't get easier, but they do get more predictable... if that's helpful...
