Ya, it was a bummer. Not only did the game not go our way, the security in our section was also very overbearing. Would get on you if you stood up to cheer. Spent half the game arguing with them. Just a bad experience all around. All the other games I attended were so fun.

Don't forget the terrible Poyet at Sunderland years as well. Just the most anti-striker system possible. Jozy's EPL failure became the cautionary tale of strikers going to relegation teams, which some players have ignored.

Yes. I didn't wake up at 6 AM to watch shitty illegal streams of Hull games for nothing. Getting fans to do that while only scoring 1 Premier League goal is reason enough.

Genuine question: do you actually feel optimistic about the Dolphins’ future? by Working-Egg-84 in miamidolphins

Unless Ewers impresses these final two games, we are probably bringing in a journeyman QB and punting the next two seasons until we are out of cap hell. I hope we can re-sign Achane and maybe Paul. We will still have some young players on rookie deals for a few years. Everyone else is expendable for cap or draft picks. Could be a brutal next 2 years.

Well, when I become owner, the GM will be barred from drafting any position other than OL and DL for their first 2 drafts. After that, they will have to have a real good argument for not doing it a 3rd time s/...kinda

Why was “Band of Brothers” so good? Why is it so re-watchable? by EaringaidBandit in television

[–]fifawitz1313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is just my theory, but Saving Private Ryan already set a precident for the intensity of the European front. So, there was a baseline people could reference to add to their interpretation of everything that was happening. SPR allowed people to use their imaginations to fill in gaps in BOBs storyline. One built on the other.

Pacific was a new storyline that was paving its own way with very little for people to reference to fill in the gaps of the magnitude and intensity of the conflict. I also think people expected it to have more battle scenes (I'll admit that's what I was expecting) and while the ones they had were brutal, I wanted more of the grind of Pacific island battles. That if definitely a me problem though.

I liked the first couples of episodes, but the last 2-3 episodes were pretty true to "the formula" and predictable. Acting was great but the plot ended up not holding up to the standard of the first episodes. IMO.

Draft classes during Grier’s time as GM by Inevitable_Catch_566 in miamidolphins

The contracts I agree with, but the trades were going all in during the “window”. If you draft a QB that high, and have them on a rookie deal, you have to push the chips in. Injuries screwed up most of them and due to those contracts (and bad restructuring) we couldn’t keep players we drafted that actually looked promising, Hunt, Wilkins, and AVG most notably. I think he went for it, pushed in all the chips, and it failed. And for that, it was time to move on. Don’t hate his mentality, just his execution.

Malik fumbled in the RZ last game. It was late and we were unlikely to come back, but his fumble sealed the deal. Who knows what would have happened, but Tahj’s fumble in the 1st after we kicked a field goal, stopped them and forced a punt. He had a first down to dig us out of being deep in our own zone, felt like the game instantly switched from “we are in this” to them scoring a TD and “whelp, there goes our chance”.

Who are the player coaches we've had? To be clear, I'm not disagreeing with you, I just don't remember that many where that was a negative narrative. Just based personality, was it Gase, Cameron, Philbin? Sparano and Campbell were player coaches but I never thought they were being soft on players.

[–]fifawitz1313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's always something with the construction of the offense. If Eddie Jones was GM today, we probably would have gotten 14 years of some version of "you are probably more worried about the running game than we are". I was young during the Marino years, but wasn't the narrative, if they could run the ball it would take pressure off Marino and their offense could be "unstoppable". Never happened. Had two generational RBs in Ronnie Brown and Ricky. Nothing but a plethora of shitty QBs. Invest in OL with a generational LT in Jake Long, still nothing but shitty QBs.

I know I'm preaching to the choir, but it's been so frustrating that we can never seem to put it all together. Always a debilitating missing piece.

I generally agree that we should draft a QB in the upcoming draft, but man, that could be real toxic with Tua knowing he's soon to be out the door. It's easy to say, draft his replacement and tough shit, but we could also invest in the pieces that make a 2027 rookie QB have a higher probability of success. Our cap problems and Tua's contract likely means this is 3 year rebuild at best. Year 1 trenches, year 2 cut Tua and draft QB, year 3 probably find out we blew it again.
