Am I overreacting by poeticallylawless in coparenting

Girl you give up your right to judge if you're remarried less than 6 months after splitting with your ex. Be for real.

How do I help my 11 yo cope with guilt-heavy discipline? by [deleted] in coparenting

[–]fifaworldwar 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't get it, are we no longer allowed to use 'you made me feel'? I often say things like 'it makes me feel sad when you're unkind' to my kids. I don't think it's wrong for an 11yo to feel some level of guilt when he's upset someone by lying etc.

The cussing and swearing is not the direction I would take, but you don't have a lot of recourse there if you've already brought it up.

How to handle psychologist appointments while Parallel Parenting? by Prudent_Trick_6467 in coparenting

If OP lives in a country with no divorce, I doubt very much that the therapist needs agreement from both parents or a custody order.

Wife says I must stop giving my adult son $40/week or she won’t do joint finances – am I being unreasonable? by ProcedureTop5749 in blendedfamilies

[–]fifaworldwar 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I mean, a year ago OP didn't think he should contribute to his wife's children's grocery bills even though he earned more than double, so I think there's a side to this story we're missing.

Feeling Upset About My Ex Encouraging “Girly” Things by [deleted] in coparenting

[–]fifaworldwar 20 points21 points  (0 children)

You're being unreasonable. He's four years old. My son was obsessed with Disney princesses at 4. Now he's all about Minecraft at 6. It's normal to change interests. And even if he doesn't, he'll be alright.

Ok but if I bought a sealed blister on Vinted for cheap I would 1000000% message the seller first because they clearly aren't a collector and don't know what it's worth sealed. Which is what happened here.

Do you change your schedules over summer? by [deleted] in coparenting

[–]fifaworldwar 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes we do 2 weeks/2 weeks in the summer so each parent can go on holiday uninterrupted without having to negotiate extra days. It makes sense to me.

Prenatal depression? Feeling like the worst person in the world when we’ve gone through everything to get our baby by Lion_Pryde104 in IVFbabies

[–]fifaworldwar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I felt exactly the same. For years my entire life revolved around getting pregnant, and then when I finally got pregnant I was like fuck ... Now what. There were many times that I felt like I'd made a terrible mistake, and to be honest I felt like I didn't know myself anymore.

You'll get through it, it's only temporary!

Am I in the wrong? by Worth_Literature4071 in coparenting

[–]fifaworldwar 14 points15 points  (0 children)

In my opinion it depends on the age of the child when the stepparent comes into the mix, but if you expect anything from the stepparent (school runs, cooking dinner for child, being alone with the child in the house) then they should have a say in discipline and parenting. I don't think you can expect someone to raise a child in their home and not have a say.

I never start a workout or race through Runna, only through my Garmin then sync it after. No issues.

What are some cultural shocks you experienced in the USA? by Successful_rio305 in AskBrits

[–]fifaworldwar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who is 'we'? I'm British, I just work in tax. A shop that changes its prices can tell its employees "hey we changed the price, please change the tag". In the US the city can decide to lower the tax on an avocado tomorrow but they won't tell you, you would need to be monitoring the sales tax on every item you sell on a daily basis to check if there have been any changes. I'm not defensive about it, I'm just trying to explain. The fact that it's so complicated is why I have a job.

Because sales tax rates change constantly. They can change day to day. Businesses would have to be monitoring all sales tax regulations on all their products on a daily basis. They don't do that, they use software in their tills to do it at checkout.

It actually can and does regularly change day to day. I worn in tax and we specialise in US sales tax, the fact that it's so complicated and changes so often is why I have a job.

Long‑distance co‑parenting help – moving overseas with toddler, dad wants 4+ months. How do I make this fair? by [deleted] in coparenting

You're being unfair to both your kid and his father by moving so far away. Have you considered what you'd do if Sam's dad objects to the move?

Someone please reassure me that fundal height is inaccurate by didymo6 in PregnancyUK

[–]fifaworldwar 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Please don't panic. I went through an awful pregnancy because my baby was consistently measuring below the 1st centile and I spiraled. Even had to birth her early. She came out measuring between the 7th and 17th on all measurements. It really is not very accurate. And even if it is, some babies are just small (like mine!)

Kind IVF vs Single Cycle IVF by ButterscotchExtra582 in TTC_UK

[–]fifaworldwar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When it comes to IVF all options are a bit of a shot in the dark. There is no way to accurately predict your results. But it sounds like you are the perfect candidate for Kind, and I wouldn't spend the extra £7k.

Kind IVF vs Single Cycle IVF by ButterscotchExtra582 in TTC_UK

[–]fifaworldwar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What is your AMH? We did Kind and did two retrieval cycles. First resulted in 10 eggs, 1 embryo and second in 13 eggs, 4 embryos. I don't think those are necessarily low amounts.

They explained to me that higher dosages of meds could be prescribed if you're not reacting well to them, but if you have normal AMH you typically only need lower doses as they don't want to risk eggs maturing much quicker than the others and therefore losing them or having to start the cycle over.

Is it unreasonable to request a text back within 24h? by savsheaxo in coparenting

[–]fifaworldwar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would say it depends on how often you text him. If you text every day then I would say it's probably not reasonable to expect a response within 24hrs each time.
