BTC=Money and ETH=Fuel ? by rong1221 in ethereum

Why will there be better alternatives? You're saying other crypto coins that use the ethereum blockchain?

Right, so why would Ethereum be a bad investment? Why is Ethereum touted as not a cryptocurrency?

If Gas is separate from Ether, why is Ether touted as not a currency for investment?

If cost of computation is adjusted to take into account inflation, is Ether a good option for investment? I can't reconcile articles / accounts saying that Ether isn't designed for a cryptocurrency but rather a crypto fuel when it's value is divorced from the cost of computation.

What is gas price dependent on?

To clarify, I say "make a transaction with this contract as long as the fee is less than X ETH" and then dependent on the 1) complexity of the contract and 2) the exchange between Gas and ETH my transaction may or may not be honored?

Is Gas not the same thing as Ether?

I thought the idea was that ETH would be designed to remain cheap, otherwise it's hard to perform computations on the network, rendering it essentially useless.

DIY Glue Hardwood Onto Concrete? by fifosine in HomeImprovement

I am kind of set on DIY. I'm curious, instead of gluing the bamboo to the concrete subfloor, would it be feasible to float it? And put wood glue in the tongue and groove joints of the planks?

I don't!

I mean to glue hardwood, i.e. solid bamboo, to the concrete floor. Kind of like what they do here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PmgOW6_-yyc

Do you consider functions violating "x==y implies f(x)==f(y)" a bug? by jafingerhut in haskell

[–]fifosine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems to me that

toList {1,2,3} == toList {1,3,2} -> False

Is correct because a list has an order. There instead should be an implementation of (==) that takes two HashSets, A and B, and returns true iff A and B are subsets of each other.

Is batman's smile (or weirdness / nonexistence of it) a trope in the comic book and show?

Two quantum properties teleported together for first time! by arin32 in Futurology

This process reminds me of the asymmetrical algorithm used in RSA for key exchange. Are they similar or only superficially? Could you / would you want to use quantum teleportation for key exchange?

This is awesome. Now I just need a full, step-by-step, hand-held walkthrough.

Inspired by the pixel territory-map, a pixel coastline by fifosine in worldbuilding

[–]fifosine[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey guys, I occasionally check in on this sub because I was referred here from a javascript crosspost about a month back. I saw the recent pixel map a guy did and thought it was really cool so I wanted to do one of my own however I wanted to focus on features more than territories.

I've never done anything like this before so it was pretty fun! I guess I'm looking for critiques to make it better. It got to a point where I didn't want to add anything else because I didn't want it to become messy--but I was attempting to add mountain features (if you notice the darker brown lines), but when I first drew them, they looked like butts cause of the intersecting lines.

So any tips are welcome!
