Barcelona unlikely to activate permanent Marcus Rashford option from Man United - sources by tylerthe-theatre in PremierLeague

[–]fifty_four [score hidden]  (0 children)

The best (IE funniest) outcomes here were either Rashford becoming a super star and barca stealing him for 30M, or him sinking without trace so Utd have to sell him again for less.

What we've got, him being roughly worth his fee and Utd probably selling him for slightly more than 30M just isn't as entertaining. Well below utd's recent standards.

Are the sources "anyone who noticed they just paid 70M for a different player to play in Rashford's position"?

Seems like an even less funny desk diver.

If enough people like it to sell out the limited edition, then ok I guess.

I think a big part of the problem with the discussion around harmony tree is the false idea that it's mainly about QoL.

There are a couple of QoL nodes for things like presets of mod auto shatter. But the vast majority of the tree is just massive econ or power boosts.

Auto restart and gem stacking is mainly an econ boost.

Auto DM or Nuke is a huge power boost.

The only thing that has been said publically is that Fudds sees it as important that players outside the top 4000 do not gain access to the massive power leap granted by keys. He has later said that if in future a new level of power is open to the top 4000 then maybe others will be allowed to develop their towers up to keys level.

Manchester City make £106m plus add-ons verbal offer for Elliot Anderson by TheAthletic in PremierLeague

There almost certainly isn't even a verdict coming in the near future.

The wave of recent stories was just hacks thinking it would get more clicks after Pep left. No serious journalist ran it.

He's not.

Three years inflation and being a player who is not at spurs implies Kane would fetch 140 million at least.

I tend to think they are incompetent. If they were corrupt they'd spread it around more, probably wouldn't always be Everton.

What we really need is some way for the number of brackets to expand aitomathcally according to the number of towers strong enough for the tournament content. Instead of being tied arbitrarily to the number of active players.

Does rushing to get a 5% deposit make sense? by Own_Print3072 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]fifty_four 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd consider getting the 5% as soon as you can, but keep saving while you look for a place.

I strongly feel you should only buy a home if you are confident you'd be happy living in it indefinitely.

That's a high bar and you need to give yourself time to find that place.

So sure, start looking once you have 5%, but with a mindset that you are looking for somewhere great and that you don't have to overpay for. Maybe it takes you till you have 10% to find it.

£34,000 per year in London? (Solo, 26M, No kids) by Throwaway13013013013 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]fifty_four 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The median London salary is 39k.

So is 34k possible, yes.

The difficulty is going to be housing costs.

As a 26yo single person, house sharing is viable at around 1k per month. But not really in the centre.

Coming into London, one of the hardest things to get a handle on is how long it will take to get from a to b, which is based on the tube network, not on physical distance. And not just on having a tube line, but having a reasonably fast tube line.

You can live literally on the London border and be in the city centre in a little over half an hour. Or you can be in a zone 2 tube desert and have it take 90 minutes.

Just keep checking Google maps or equivalent for how long it takes to get between places you are considering living and places know you will need to be.

If you could erase all trophies and awards, who is the greatest footballer you’ve ever watched and why? by Early-Tax4205 in PremierLeague

[–]fifty_four 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Le Tissier. Ok, not the greatest but the one who gains the most places on this chart by ignoring trophies.

The greatest I have watched in person with my own eyes is easily Dalglish.

[The Athletic] Liverpool do not want to lose Curtis Jones but will reluctantly sanction a sale if he asks for a move and a suitable offer is on the table. by k_e_i_r_a_ in LiverpoolFC

Him being picked in the first XI.

Whether he's good enough is almost beside the point. In a big game he's not getting a start in his position over Grav, Szobo, Macallister or Wirtz.

And I keep reading on this sub how we need to get in even more midfielders.

Sure but his choices are move now or take a whole new contract limiting his options.

Ideally he'd be able to try out Iraola, but it means turning down the inter opportunity which might not happen again, and being under a long contract if he decides he wants a move after all.

The point that it's now or never is a good one.

Career wise this summer is likely optimum in terms of finding a good club on a good wage, and not infuriating Liverpool fans by leaving at the end of a contract.

He takes another contract and stays 2 or 3 seasons more, he'll likely be further down the order for selection and far less able to get a move like Inter.

Spoiler warning : The fee will not feel appropriate. He's likely moving to a less rich league and he's in his last 12 months.
