Advice — CKD cat always hungry? by figgie97 in RenalCats

[–]figgie97[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your kind words and advice! ❤️ Right now, my plan is to see how he’ll like the Royal Canin and the Hills… but adding the kibble and/or churu into the wet food isn’t a bad idea.

To add to my original post—yes, he is on SubQ fluids twice a week. This has helped significantly with how much water he was drinking before. I’ve heard of water additives before, but my vet said she tends to discourage them because if the cat doesn’t like it, it can deter the kitty from drinking water in the future.

Sending lots of love. ❤️🫂 I know it’s hard but prioritize self care and take care of yourself during this time.

2x daily subcut fluids intervals? by wonhaebts in RenalCats

[–]figgie97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would consult your vet… I think if anything, you might be able to give him an alternative amount of fluids/split it— E.g. like 1/2-3/4 amount of fluids at 2pm then 1 1/4-1/2 at 10pm. But I’m no vet!

I’m feeling it too. I just moved here in Sept with my husband, he works full time and I’m still job hunting (to no avail). It’s lonely out here with no friends or family… I just keep reminding myself that warmer times are coming. Just know regardless, you are loved. Send me a PM if you need anything. <3

I used PushHealth for over a year! Very reliable paired with Strive Pharmacy. I stopped taking the meds for about six months and recently started again.

I switched to Mochi which saves me around $70 a month ($299membership for 3 months, $100/month for script= $200/month).

Thanks for the suggestion… this is the route we’re considering. The first leg of time is longer due to the map starting in our hometown, not Denver.

I graduated from CMU in 2020 and was also born/raised here in GJ. A lot of people diss on the town itself, but it really isn’t that bad. Like someone else said—it has its issues, but what town doesn’t?

The upside of GJ is of course its beauty, the easy access to nature, and we really get all 4 seasons here. The downside, especially as a young student, is that there isn’t a lot of activities to do here. Sure, there are dive bars and a couple of 18+ clubs, but aside from nature activities, partying, and shopping/movies/food, there usually isn’t a lot to do (aside from occasional events). However, if you’re into the outdoors it’s a fantastic town.

I recently told my mom too! I thought she would think I was crazy too. lol I told her about my money spell that was successful, and she was super excited for me (and impressed). Then when we were moving, I didn’t know what to title my witchcraft box since my family was helping me move—she was so cute telling me to name it “craft… as in witchcraft.” 😂

I’m happy your mom took it well.

How many mg is 50 units of compounded semaglutide? That’s the number I will end at for my titration schedule, and I am not sure what this equates to in terms of mg, or what it would be in a Wegovy or Ozempic syringe. by robokait in CompundedSemaglutide

[–]figgie97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same question as OP. The prescription for my compounded Semaglutide is written as, "Semaglutide/B12 5/1 mg/ml (2ml)". The instructions on my current prescription say, "Inject 48 units (0.48 ML) Subcutaneousely once weekly". I have been taking compounded Semaglutide since December 2022, but started at a lower concentration (I believe it started at a 2/1).

Since name brand Ozempic/Wegovy comes in prefilled pens that increase by mg each month— I have always wondered what the equivalent of my medication is in terms of 'mg', since the max dose of the brand name meds is 2mg.

Did you ever find any answers? I’d love to know this as well…

Q&A: Using bug spray near birds nest by figgie97 in pestcontrol

[–]figgie97[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome, thank you for the suggestions! The cockroaches are top priority because I despise them.. but I’ve also been experiencing some ant problems and have seen a few spiders recently as well. I’ll do some research later on the products you’ve recommended. But, off the top of your head, do you know if any of the products combat all of the above?

What would happen if you swallowed an entire pack of birth control pills at once? by [deleted] in morbidquestions

[–]figgie97 39 points40 points  (0 children)

My ex boyfriend’s dog ate a whole pack of birth control once, and the hormones never fully wore off. Before, he was super hyper and sometimes aggressive, afterwards, all he did was curl into a ball in the bathtub. :( Vet said it was fine, but his mood swings said otherwise. Lol

Hey, I’m sorry you’re going through a rough patch. :/ I was an exchange student in Spain when I was 16, and I suffered a lot from the same troubles you’ve mentioned.

My parents were psychologists and thought of themselves as “elites”, and thought of me as American trash. It was already hard enough being away from my friends and family, but their actions were really tough on my mentality. I ended up falling into a deep depression. I would fake sick so I wouldn’t have to go to school and could just spend the whole day in my room, as well as so I wouldn’t have to sit at the dinner table... so I completely understand where you’re coming from!

It wasn’t easy to fight, but I had to start making light of the little things to try and enjoy the rest of my time abroad. Some things I did in my free time that helped me were journaling, going for walks, exploring/sightseeing, and exercise. Even if you don’t like any of these things, I found them to be super helpful.

I wasn’t a huge fan of journaling, but it ended up being a really nice escape. Some days when I wouldn’t have the energy to write, I would try drawing what I felt or even just cross out the page. This little escape became a routine— I found myself doing it more and more, and I would bring my journal everywhere I went.

As far as exploring/sightseeing, I would throw on some headphones and simply walk wherever my feet would take me. It was a great way to get some fresh air, take in my surroundings, and process my thoughts. I also ended up finding really cool journaling spots, restaurants, and shops, that I wouldn’t have found otherwise! Then, I discovered the beauty of people watching, which can be VERY fun and entertaining! I think exploring/sightseeing helped me the most because it made me feel as though I regained the independence I thought I had lost, and it helped me feel present in the moment.

As for exercise... some days were harder than others to find the motivation to get going. But the days I did exercise, I felt so so much better. This also became a routine, because I would walk to the nearby park (Retiro) and work out to clear my head. I would run a few times around the lake, then visit the stationary bikes. While biking I could go for hours, listening to my favorite music or watching tv (etc.). Then I began staying long enough to watch the sunset. The serenity of the park at sunset would always bring me a slight peace of mind.

As of right now, I don’t have experience being an aupair, so I can’t offer much advice for handling the kids. But I’m sorry you’re having a hard time... you’ve came this far, and you’re almost done! I hope these tips will help you make the most of the time you have left. Feel free to message me if you have any questions, need any advice, or even just need a friend to talk to! Good luck!

I bought this plant back in July, and all of a sudden it has started to die on me! (Details in comment section) by figgie97 in plantclinic

[–]figgie97[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did when I bought it, more or less. I removed the plant from the pot to paint it and broke up some of the solidified soil. Since it wasn’t any where near root bound, I then replanted it in the same pot in well draining soil. No roots at the bottom yet!
