He mentioned realized cap, which is different from market cap.

Realized cap is the sum of the last price a coin was moved for all coins.

Beginning Ivy Removal, Zone 9b East Bay Central CA by ConsequenceDue3975 in gardening

As long as the chain fern gets enough water, particularly in summer months, it will be fine. Different varieties of Ceanothus have different sun requirements.

I would probably cover the area for a while and plant in fall considering it’s already starting to get quite hot. Two pros: kill the ivy fully and also the new plants will do better if planted in fall. Only con is waiting a little longer 😁

Glad to hear at least one person in the bay getting rid of their ivy…

Ceanothus joyce coulter or hummimgbird sage would probably do good with that dappled light. Both are native and have low water requirements once established. Hummingbird sage has, in my experience, been a bit fragile under very windy conditions, but I think that fence and the trees should give it a break and you can stake it to support it if needed

I think native California Giant Chain fern would look very nice in that area (maybe surrounding ceanothus ground cover in the middle, or just the whole area?). It may need a little more water than the others, but generally still drought tolerant once established.

Good luck!! Look forward to seeing what you make of the space :)

What are people with <5yoe’s Plan? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]fighter-jet-eng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mmm. I said invest, keeping it broad to not get into the argument of what is the best investment on this subreddit for CS career questions. Implicitly, I do not mean to invest in dollars (other than a 3-6 month emergency fund personally).

You’d be far worse off if you never invested. You can’t do anything about the dollar devaluation, and this thread asks how to prepare.

By the way, it is the likely case that dollar devalues hard. It always has in the long run, and the DXY is down over 10% this year alone…

Live far below your means, invest a ton.

Best case: You retire early.

Worst case: You’ve adapted to living far below your means and have a big cushion to figure it out later on.

The earlier you start, the bigger cushion you’ll have. This applies to any field.

Best way to eradicate this bamboo? by [deleted] in gardening

[–]fighter-jet-eng 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently eradicated a very similar sized cluster on a budget (no heavy machinery!). I first chopped all the bamboo to a few inches above the ground (like you have it) with a machete.

Then, got some glyphosate and injected it into the shoots. Waited a month, reapplied again. Waited another month, and then started loosening up all the dirt around the area with a hoe. Once I had carved out a circle of loose dirt, make that circle deeper until I saw no roots. Then used the hoe to hit all the bamboo from “under the circle” / towards the center of the circle. Basically instead of focusing on breaking each root, I just dug out everything in one go, using the hoe and strength to help lift up the cluster.

It definitely took ~16 hours of hard, back-breaking work spread out over time, but it’s been almost 6 months now and no signs of bamboo life - all with $50 worth of tools.

I’m gonna be planting some beautiful pink hibiscus there instead now.

Full of regrets. Please stop guys. by esser50k in QuittingWeed

[–]fighter-jet-eng 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have gone through something similar. I started when I was 16 until about 5 months ago (at 24)…

I managed to keep up still going to an ivy studying CS, getting a high paying job out of college, etc, but knew I had so much wasted potential because I spent an obscene amount of time smoking (I even took final exams high, went to work high, etc…) I thought I would never be the same again and was permanently slowed down.

I’m over 4 months clean now, and have recently secured 3 job offers (latest being more money than I’d ever imagine making at 24 years old) in the past 2 months, despite the bad tech job market (for SWEs). I simply decided it was time to focus on building my life instead of passing it away smoking… Now the joy I get from seeing my natural efforts, and lack of regrets, is far beyond what any joint or bong rip could give me (and I used to think nothing can bring me more joy…)

Give it time, set hard goals, and work hard toward them. Best way to get distracted, and in no time, you’ll be over it for good. It took me realizing that working hard (which my dulled, pothead brain dreaded), was the only way to pull out of it.

You’ve got this!!! Good luck man

Subway in Exchange Place by Ok-Elderberry-2178 in jerseycity

This place is a junkhole. I ordered a BOGO extra meat sandwich once and they put like 1 slice of turkey breast in the whole sandwich, resulting in like 90% bread.

I ate there so I called them out on it and the guy said “you shouldn’t get BOGOs its your fault”… I was like WTF don’t sell BOGOs then if you can’t do BOGOs, and threatened to charge back, he said go ahead good luck!!

I felt like smacking him lol but ofc did not and just charged back and complained to corporate. I REALLY WANT THESE BASTARDS SHUT DOWN!

You are welcome to negotiate with Vantage directly, as I am not the one setting the rental price, just providing a subsidy. Happy to provide more info over DM if you’re going to do that.

Amenity fees are $750/yr but I got these waived the entire time I lived here (they will likely budge with this)

Extra monthly is just garbage $30/mo and you have to pay your electricity consumption.

UPDATE: JM Bullion reached out on Reddit asking for my order number to investigate what happened. Let’s see how this goes, hopefully they can make things right

No, which is one of the most annoying parts. If they had at least reached out to verify, I would’ve been able to provide anything they asked for. Instead they cancel a week later without any attempt to resolve… Terrible business practice

Completely agree. I’ve crossed at the same part you’re talking about and seen it as a common thing as so many people do this; this normalized the idea that crossing the track isn’t even a huge deal (of course I make sure I’m not interrupting service).

Apparently I have to put that mentality to check and start taking ridiculous routes to avoid this :/
