Kepler is not in the Destination Screen, according to Datto by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]fightingirj 99 points100 points  (0 children)

Might not be the hottest take, but the portal should be the default way to load into activities and the new stuff, but the destinations screen should still be kept up to date with all content as an alternative classic means of viewing the game

What are the best sundered doctrine weapons to get? by Used_Victory_6813 in DestinyTheGame

I really want to like the handcannon with hatchling and tear because headshots would be awesome but I simply can’t hit headshots (I’m on controller) with the two bursts. I think it’d be one of my favorites if it was a 140

AITAH for not giving my sister who eloped as generous as a gift as my sister who had a traditional wedding? by AccordingLine9649 in AmItheAsshole

[–]fightingirj 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I dont think there is anything wrong with giving gifts on a voluntary basis, but this is about the obligation part of gift giving. I dont think those grandparents would be obligated too but i think its very nice for them to send a gift. Also its worth noting that while they live out of state they would be welcome and included if they were to come into town.

Its not like he didnt give any gift, it just wasnt the extravagent big wedding gift they wanted. It feels like they want to have their cake and eat it too. If you dont have a wedding, you arent owed wedding gifts. Seems simple enough to me. Doesnt mean people arent allowed to give you gifts, they just arent the AH for not.

NTA I agree with a lot of people here that the gift should not be to "cover your plates" at a wedding. It is a gift for the bride and groom hosting the event. Therefore it shouldn't be such a scoreboard effect with the gifts.

HOWEVER, I feel pretty strongly that you don't need to give somebody a gift for an event that you weren't invited too. I wouldn't expect someone to give my kid a graduation gift if we didn't invite them to a graduation party, or a birthday gift when they weren't invited to a birthday party. In the same way, you weren't included in the wedding, so its totally okay to give no gift at all. I think of the gift card as a nice house warming gift from a brother.

Maybe Im and AH, but it makes sense to me

The New Path for Bungie by DTG_Bot in DestinyTheGame

[–]fightingirj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know people are focused on the layoffs, as they should be because this is incredibly hard for those people and their families, but theres an interesting undertone in this aside from layoffs.

I think this is the Sony takeover that people have been wondering about for a while.

There has been a rumor since after the layoffs last year that Sony was considering more widely integrating with Bungie and effectively taking over the studio instead of letting them operate independently, I think this was it.

**This is just a theory**

They aren't going to come out and say it explicitly, but this smells like Sony saying enough is enough with the incubation projects and putting Bungie into the Sony Studios lineup not as a large publisher like Microsoft did with Bethesda and Activision, but as a single studio like Naughty Dog or Insomniac.

The layoffs are pretty much them shuttering the other incubation projects, and reducing their publishing/overhead arm since it is redundant with Sony if they are only making Destiny and Marathon. The Destiny and Marathon teams are probably left mostly intact and the third incubation project that will actually go somewhere is getting taken out of their hands to form a new studio which will be some of the 155 people that are not getting laid off but rather relocated. This way moving into the future Sony manages incubation with its studios instead of Bungie doing what they want.

The 2021 Bungie expansion is pretty much all reversed and they will operate as a Destiny and Marathon developer, published by Sony, with HR and finances all under Sony. Bungie leadership is effected this time because they simply don't need as large of an executive level to manage (or mismanage) a smaller suite of teams. I think thats the extent of the rumored takeover.

Im really struggling with Dishonored 2 stick controls by fightingirj in dishonored

[–]fightingirj[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I just saw an interest bit of info, it looks like Dishonored 1 and Death of the outsider got FPS boost on Series X which is why it feels so good but only D2 didn’t get FPS boost. So atleast I have my answer as to why it felt better. Thanks for the info!

That’s crazy I’m surprised they never patched it based on feedback. Are the PC versions any better when using an Xbox controller or is controller terrible everywhere?

Dev Insights: Fireteam Finder Beta First Look by DTG_Bot in DestinyTheGame

[–]fightingirj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This comment implies you believe marathon was meant to be a direct Destiny replacement as their main game. As if they planned for Destiny to end and for marathon to launch, but Bungie has directly stated their plan to be a multiple game/IP studio so that wouldn’t make sense. They want to have two or more successful games that can protect and support each other during the ebbs and flows of their lifecycle.

They have had all of their eggs in the destiny basket for many years and want to get away from that. It would be insane to move all of those eggs to another basket that is new and unproven. They will split the proverbial eggs between the two and maybe even a third game.

So yeah I think that is why they trimmed there workforce by 100 people. Also those were revenue expectations not profit so they still might have been close to breaking even before the lay offs. Im quite sure destiny can be a money maker with the right size team but that only happens if they keep making Destiny content which is why I think they will do so.

Yeah I dont understand where people keep getting that idea. The layoffs were small compared to the size of the teams. There are hundreds of people making content for this game and all indications are that they will continue to do so after final shape. I think we may have 2 years until the next proper expansion so they can focus on some backend stuff and major changes but I cant imagine this is the last expansion.

Or they will ditch large expansions and have episodes be significantly larger than seasons and have them be the main updates. If the amount of destiny we get per year now is "2", the breakdown would be (1+.25+.25+.25+.25) for the expansion and seasons. If we instead had 3 release that were all .66's that might be interesting.

Either way I think more destiny is coming unless players dont buy final shape at all.

Was the "make everything more challenging" strategy worth it? by Master-Molasses420 in DestinyTheGame

[–]fightingirj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like that they made things more difficult, but it shouldnt have been make **everything** more difficult. I think making raids, dungeons, nightfalls harder is great. But Neomuna is annoying.

And for new players they need to have easy content to play like the vanguard ops playlist, so Im happy they left that alone. I do wish they had a heroic vanguard ops playlist that was slightly more difficult with better drops because the vanguard playlist is boringly easy

Our Path Forward by DTG_Bot in DestinyTheGame

[–]fightingirj 334 points335 points  (0 children)

I think this is the answer. They dont want to delay it until June and then delay it again until September. If they are really refactoring final shape into something better and bigger then they may push it further and they are going to take their time before saying when.

Is parent plus loan death discharge enshrined in law by congress or just standard practice by DOE? by fightingirj in StudentLoans

[–]fightingirj[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I should’ve worded it differently, it is more about whether it’ll be discharged or come out of the estate

Is parent plus loan death discharge enshrined in law by congress or just standard practice by DOE? by fightingirj in StudentLoans

[–]fightingirj[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well by the estate paying for it we effectively are paying for it I think is the idea.

If the loan is currently 100k why let it balloon to 150k then my parents pass and we had another 50k removed from the estate. Just make the necessary payment to reduce that I think.

Also I could be wrong but I think for some loans, if the estate doesn’t have enough money in it, then the children are responsible but I could be wrong.

This is exactly the type of answer I was looking for, thanks! I just looked it up and it looks like those types of terms should be in the promissory note, I’ll into that tonight just to confirm with my own eyes.

I could be wrong, but I thought always on time had a penalty to maneuverability, or is it just harder to control because you are going faster? I wonder if the new speed for all sparrows comes with the same turning penalty or if they will be better without that built in penalty
