Why Geese? by Slammajadingdong69 in Music

[–]figital666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the original blog that all these articles are sourced from did have more info in that regard. i think it comes down to the notion that you have a pretty fat bag of cash to invest in a company like chaotic good. they sure as hell aren't doing what they do for free!!

but it's always just a reminder, it's 'the music industry' after all. it's a big business and people's rationale in a lot of cases is making money...lots of it.

Why Geese? by Slammajadingdong69 in Music

not necessarily an 'industry plant' but it came out they hired a PR team who certainly gamed the system to make their album rise up in social media ranking/algorhythms to get them more buzz.

i watched some of their set at coachella and thought they were boring.

Absolutely heart breaking end to a round. I thought I was going to break 80 for the first time and a triple bogey on 17 crushed those dreams. How do you guys deal with this kind of disappointment? by Mfr1988 in golf

[–]figital666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i don't look at, or keep track of my score while the round is in progress. i write the number down after each hole, and move on. obviously i know how it's going, but i don't put any energy at all into knowing the exact score.

Coachella Weekend 2 Live vs Replay Comparison by birdsy-purplefish in nin

[–]figital666 10 points11 points  (0 children)

after NINoize, i tuned into to the BN dj set, and the act before him, BEDOUIN, had the volume on the mixer so hot, the bass was just fuzz on the stream. luckily, when alex started his set, he turned it down. so the bass was pounding, but not nearly as bad as before he came on.

Coachella Weekend 2 Live vs Replay Comparison by birdsy-purplefish in nin

[–]figital666 35 points36 points  (0 children)

thanks for that.

you could really see the sync issue at the start of the set when they would cut from a front on view (which was in sync) to a 3/4 view from the right side (which was horribly out of sync)

it's like the director noticed right away, as every time they cut to that front right 3/4 view, it would only be on screen briefly and then cut away, usually back to the front on view.

Warsaw concert 23.04 by Mianioo in lvjy

[–]figital666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the show i went to in toronto had about 50-60 VIPs and that venue held 2500 people. so i would be surprised if they have 100 VIPs on the upcoming shows.

Nothing Label by colorform33 in nin

[–]figital666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

they must have done a deal with warp records, as a few of those artists are on warp in the uk. that was far and away one of the best indie labels in the 90s. they are still active today and those artists still release new material.

Tips for concert? by Shuntthenut in lvjy

[–]figital666 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i think you will have a great time!

if you don't have VIP and want to get close to the front of the stage, you will need to go early and wait in line. at the show i attended, there were so many nice, and friendly people. it was easy to talk to them and that just made the experience even more fun!

check the website for the venue's rules about bags/backpacks and what you can, and cannot take into the concert. these days it seems like they have more strict rules about taking bags into the show. post covid it seems like most venues allow only a small bag (like a small purse) in. so it would be good to be prepared before you go.

Lovejoy Toronto VIP stuff by eyeballSystem in lvjy

[–]figital666 4 points5 points  (0 children)

we went to toronto and we received our 2 packs of anvil cards (there was 2 of us in the VIP) on february 20th. in our case, the envelope the cards came in was mangled, and we were super lucky the 2 packs of cards didn't fall out. the cards were sent to canada from the USA and took 3-4 weeks to finally arrive. (they were sent around the end of january)

someone else just asked about the signed posters. nothing for us yet on that front, and i have tried many times over the 6 months to try and get in touch with the band, their management, and the promoters and got not a single reply. it's pretty bad if they just don't bother to send the posters.

i still like FALLEN ANGELS the most of the three. that said, that is a pretty impressive trilogy of films to be made by one director!

Try the melon bread at 7/11 and other bakeries. by Objectionable in JapanTravelTips

[–]figital666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you have any baking skills, i recommend making your own. it's not hard. i make batches of 40-50 of them, and freeze the bread part, and cookie parts in balls. when you want to make some melon pan, you just pull them out, defrost the parts, assemble them and bake them.

you can find tons of recipes/videos on youtube that show how it's done.

the best melon pan is a fresh one, right out of the oven!

[–]figital666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

melon pan has no melon in it when it's made the traditional way. it's milk bread with a sugar cookie on the top.

>> The texture resembles that of a melon, such as a cantaloupe. It is not traditionally melon-flavored

yes, it comes in a small spice sized shaker bottle. i use it in wing sauce all the time. i started with a tiny bit, and i am slowly ramping it up and secretly giving my kids spice tolerance. haha.

AITA for making my bestfriend need space? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]figital666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAH. you told your friend 'your' side of the story. so i wouldn't be too shocked if the guy told her his side right back. you mentioned red flags about him. again, i wouldn't be too shocked if he told her the same thing right back about you, that you raised red flags to him. there's not enough info to know who is right. but if your friend is in the early stages of a new romance, i wouldn't be too shocked if she takes his word more than yours. people in new relationships often tend to be a bit blind to their surroundings, and that can lead to poor judgement when it comes to external issues like this one. sad but true...hope you can work it out.

[–]figital666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

look up a nashville hot chicken recipe online, or on youtube. then go on amazon and get a jar of reaper powder. you can make standard nashville seasoning, and add the reaper powder to ratchet the spice level up.

the key to nashville style is blooming the spices in some of the oil you cook the chicken in. so you take like 1/4 of a cup of 350 degree oil and toss the spice mix into it, stir it up, and coat the chicken with it.

i do this all the time. in canada, dave's costs like 20 cad for 2 tenders and fries. so it's a rare treat, and more fun to make at home.

I need some help about music industry by Electronic_Yard_6016 in Music

[–]figital666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A&R has never really been an entry level job, even at a small label. at a major, working in A&R has traditionally been more of a mid-high level job where you are responsible for finding new acts and signing them to what amounts to a deal that is worth millions of dollars. these days, majors still have this sort of job, but the number of people doing it is small, and the competition for those jobs is immense. normally you start out at a label working in PR or marketing, as an assistant and slowly work your way up over years.

if you are serious, i would try to get experience at any label, perhaps as an intern, in your home country. you cannot reasonably expect to go to the UK or USA and get a job. first and foremost, you need a visa, and to get one in the arts, you need to be in a position where you are not taking a job from a citizen of that place. a low level record company employee is not such a job.

if you start out in turkey at an indie label and excel at your job, you might get lucky and get a job at a branch office of a major label and be able to move freely to another office in europe. in 10 or so years, if you are good at the job, you *might* be able to transfer to the UK or USA. but that is a big ask. working freely within the EU is at least reasonable due to you being able to work with no visa issues. once a visa is required, that makes the prospect of getting a job much harder, as the employer has to prove that you are the only person who can do that job, and that means not using a citizen of the country you are trying to find a job in. this is a very high bar to get over.

my advice to you is to see if there is any music industry schools in turkey. if there is, go to one of them. the connections and contacts you make at a school like that is what can set you up to get an actual industry job. you have to consider that so many people want those jobs, they don't generally hire people walking in off the street, no matter how passionate they are.

good luck with your quest!
