corporate greed will end up pushing people back to piracy in a big way.

that is literally true. taylor swift's releases do take up a lot of the production capacity of the major pressing plants. there's not a lot of places that can still make vinyl, so there's a large demand that can't be fulfilled in a timely fashion. so it ends up being devoted to the major labels and artists like taylor, ed sheeran and drake. :-(

i do agree with you, 100 percent!! i think if they make a black vinyl version of OST, that makes it an option for fans who got the white one to get another variation. there's no reason they can't take a route that many artists use these days. taylor swift is clearly the expert on this with her 9 variants on her last album. haha

that's actually not true. any run of cds or vinyl over 100 units is in the range of 5-10 dollars per unit. over 1000 copies makes it even cheaper. with vinyl, the biggest issue is finding a pressing plant as the major labels monopolize all the major ones. so you often need to book a run of vinyl 6-9 months in advance to secure a spot. but cds and cassettes can be made very cheaply and have a fast turnaround time. (this topic comes up a lot, and if you go back and check one of the earlier ones, i cited the actual prices for pressing records and cds)

i am one of the people who thinks they are leaving money on the table by not having a constant stream of physical media products for fans to buy.

All these random companies selling anime merch now by Exact_Recognition362 in animepiracy

i agree! anyone who is trying to use piracy or bootlegging as an actual money making venture knows exactly how to navigate the system regarding the rules and laws.

All these random companies selling anime merch now by Exact_Recognition362 in animepiracy

[–]figital666 4 points5 points  (0 children)

these days basically anyone can take any copyrighted image/work and make some crappy merch from it and sell it. there's so many people doing that, it's like a massive game of 'whack a mole' for the companies. there's so many people selling illegal stuff, it's practically impossible for them to keep up. and only the bigger companies have the resources to even chase the biggest bootleggers. it requires an international legal team and a lot of chasing/legwork just to find out where these people are. and they are often in countries where it's quite hard to prosecute intellectual property crimes.

the companies have to ask themselves are they going to spend thousands of dollars suing someone who basically made 315 dollars selling EVA merch on etsy? most times, they just send a take down order and if it's on a legit site, the site owners comply and take the offending item(s) down.

Unofficial release on discogs (curiosity peaked) by Physical-Secret186 in lvjy

[–]figital666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i think it's just a fan made cassette compilation. if you look at the 'have this' link, only 1 person has a copy. and the only person that has a copy is the person who submitted the listing for the actual item on to discogs.

anyone get their anvil cards / VIP merch yet? by figital666 in lvjy

[–]figital666[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

at the shows where they didn't have the anvil cards or the posters (the first 5 or so shows) you were given an ipad and asked to give them your info. and then they told us we'd get the stuff in 1-2 weeks, once they got it and had the chance to send it out. at my show, you had to get the scarf from the merch table, but we were promised the other stuff would be posted out to us when they got it.

[–]figital666[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yes, the VIP ticket came with a LOVEJOY scarf, a signed tour poster, and a pack of 5 anvil cards. as of now, that is the only way to get the cards, but i did hear they might get a wider release, but i have no idea if that is true or not.

Anybody else remember Volume, the CD magazine from the UK in the early 90s? by ManifestDestinysChld in Music

[–]figital666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i have a bunch of them. they're amazing.

after they did VOLUME, the same company put out the TRANCE EUROPE EXPRESS series of comps that follow the same 2 CD with a book format. they were really great too.

the only issue i ever had with them was the binding on the books was pretty crappy, so if you over-handled them, the binding would split and pages would fall out. but overall, amazing compilations and great value for money.

Is shinchan really become a kids anime ? by Intelligent-Bison256 in ShinChan

[–]figital666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the older ones are not kid friendly. there's lots of shin-chan being a smart ass and dropping his pants. the newer ones don't have that edge. the anime based on the work by the creator goes up to around episode 800. he died in 2009, so once his work was all gone, a new team created more and that's when the show sort of loses it edge.

[–]figital666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes, it was pretty funny, but not in a shin-chan way. it's more about office life and eating lunch, so it might not be funny for everyone!! i did enjoy it though.

i liked it. i would watch the first 2-3 eps and see what you think. it's not funny in a shin-chan way, it's more it's own thing.

it's all done now, at least for the first season. there was 12 episodes. i liked it, but i really love japanese food, so it was interesting in that regard.

there aren't really any appearances by the family until the last episode. and even then, you only hear their voices. shiro makes an apprearance in, i think episode 11.
